Hello,

well, actually I'm very confused about the possibilities to achieve the following solution:

I like to have:

1) digital and analog input (preferrable balanced)
2) Dirac DRC
3) Speaker-Crossover (2x3-way)
4) Balanced (preferrable) analog output to the six (better eight) power-amps

I see multiple ways to achieve this:

1) DIRAC-22D

Is this device capable of splitting the output onto 2x3-channels, esp. with the new crossover plugin? How would one select the
input, select the output and doing volume control?

2) DIRAC-88A

I want to avoid a chain where the CD-player does D/A-conversion and the miniDSP A/D-conversion.
Is this device miniSHARC-based?
If so, it should be possible to modify it to use DIGI-FP board?

3) OpenDRC-DA-8 with DIRAC-Upgrade and crossover-plugin

Here I need additional balancer at the outputs, sure.
And I need an external balanced A/D for analog input. How can I switch inputs from the OpenDRC in this case?

Thanks.

By "new crossover plugin" you mean the DDRC-88BM? That will only run on the DDRC-88A hardware.

"3) OpenDRC-DA-8 with DIRAC-Upgrade and crossover-plugin"

Is there a Dirac upgrade for the OpenDRC-DA8?

I did not see any constraints of which OpenDRCs can be upgraded ... and if this is possible there should no obstacles to use the DDRC-88BM plugin on the upgraded OpenDRC-DA8. But there may be marketing issues ...

Well, it looks like that there is no way with the miniDSP products to realisze a digital input together with multiple (balanced) analog outputs in combination with Dirac-Live and crossover. Its a real pity that DDRC-88A is that limited ...

In the link that I provided in my first response to your question in your other thread (why are there two threads on the same topic...), it says right there in the first paragraph:

"one of the most exciting was the forthcoming update to miniDSP’s DDRC-88A ($1000) Dirac Live processor "

HTH ;)
