I currently have a DDRC-22D that sits before my pre-amp. However, I have added an analog source (turntable) and would like to keep an analog pathway. Therefore, i'm considering a DDRC-22A instead of the D.

I believe it would be best to put the 22A between my pre-amp and amp so that all sources would go through Dirac. However, in that configuration, it seems that the sub woofer would no longer connect from the pre-amp and instead would connect after the Dirac and before the amp via a split / "Y" XLR cable.

Does this sound right?

Not that I've done it but I believe you can convert your 22D into a 22A with a board and panel swap.

The other way would be to use an outboard A/D convertor and then you can switch between digital inputs on the 22D.

Question about DDRC-22A:

How do you connect a sub woofer to it when you put the minidsp in between pre-amp and amp?

Hi again - the same way that you have it connected now.

Now I have the 22D before the pre-amp. Pre-amp handles the subwoofer.

With the 22A, I would put it /after/ the pre-amp and before the amplifier. Wouldn't I need to split the output from the 22A in order to have the sub woofer covered by dirac?

@ Otherones,

Indeed possible as already suggested by John. You can easily "swap" the rear panel + purchase an AN-FP to do that transition.
DDRC-22D -> DDRC-22A is easy.

Thanks. I have ordered the AN-FP.

To split the output from the DDRC to my amp and subwoofer, is a cable like this ( link ) ok or do I need something like this ( link )?

Thanks for the help.

You might need to add a note to the order to get the replacement rear panel.

Two of the Y-connectors would be needed (assuming your sub has left and right inputs). Your question is mysterious though, as don't you already have it connected?

Current set up is digital input direct from sources to the 22D. The 22D outputs digital to my preamp. The preamp handles output to subwoofer and power amp.

In my new set up, analog and digital sources will go direct to preamp. Preamp will output analog to the 22A which will output to power amp and subwoofers.

@ otherones

Thanks for your new order. You can indeed select the panel type (+5USd from drop down menu) as correctly suggested by John.
Did you do that during your order?
