Hi Everyone

I am new to miniDSP and dirac. I am planning to design a 3way or a 4way active monitor for LCR channels for my HT. I would like to design it with digital active crossovers using miniDSP . I definitely want to use Dirac for my overall room correction, but my question is , can I use Dirac based DSP (like DDRC 88A) for each individual speaker also to time and phase align all the drivers and also to have impulse response correction for each speaker before doing it for the whole HT ?
Even if it is an overkill, and costs more than ususal , I am willing to do it, as I want to do it right with best possible outcome. I would like input suggestions from the members knowledgeable about these products .

Thanks in advance
Mani

Hi, you could use the new (not yet available) plugin that was announced at CES for the DDRC-88A to do crossovers, with Dirac processing in front.

How would you use DIRAC to phase and time align the three drivers ? Does the Dirac does frequency sweep like other softwares? If thats the case how will it meausre the impulse response as each driver will only play certain set of frequencies based on the crossover?

Thanks

You wouldn't - that isn't what it is designed to do. Dirac Live is room correction, not active crossover. You can use the trial download from dirac.se to see what it does (or just read the DDRC-88A manual)

That's what I thought...
Whats the best way to time align and phase match the drivers in one speaker and assure a perfect impulse response of the drivers? What I am trying to do is, to have time/phase /impulse response perfected at individual speaker level , and then use Dirac while running all channels to achieve above goals as a whole room. What else can I use to achieve my goals at a speaker level? i would like to use something that's somewhat more automated like Dirac , if sucha software exists?

Thanks

OK, why you are trying to do that?

to try to squeeze every bit of performance at incremental cost .... :)....as crazy as it sounds.

Well, the miniSHARC is the board to use for linear-phase speaker crossover. It's not automated though and some DIY would be needed.
