Hello,
Just received my DDRC22D and have hit a road block.
All goes well until I turn the filter button on.
I click the filter button on and the DiracLive Led does not illuminate on the DDRC22D.
The input selection Led also does not illuminate.
I am using the AES/EBU connection in and out, I had no problem running the freq sweeps.
My DAC indicates 24/96 in, but no sound at any volume setting.
I am hoping that I just missed some simple setting.
The mute function is not on.
Any thoughts from experienced users?

Alright ladies and Gentlemen,

After pulling my hair out uninstalling and reinstalling the Dirac Live Calibration Tool, Utilities and Firmware Updates.
Confirming that my PC was up to date regarding the minimum operating requirements for the Dirac Software.
Sending a help request through the feedback link on the Filter Loading page, which was responded to right away, but did inform me that it was not the correct place to report a problem with the DDRC-22D.
Sending a second request for help via tech support and anticipating at least a 4 day wait due to the Holiday.
Being impatient, I decided to open the hood and take a look inside.

There are only 3 components inside the casework.

miniSHARK
DIGI-FP
VOL-FP

Step number 1 - disconnect power and let sit overnight
Step number 2 - examine all connections = connections appear to be good
Step number 3 - download data sheets for all components to confirm proper connection points = appears all connections are correct
Step number 4 - logic must prevail, either the VOL-FP is bad or the connection between the VOL-FP and the miniSHARK is bad
Step number 5 - unplug the connection cable between the VOL-FP and the miniSHARK and reverse the cable and reinstall
Step number 6 - power up = SUCCESS!

The DiracLive LED illuminated and the source selector now functions!

Amazing - I must be a freaking genius or something?

I hope that this will help others in the future.

Now to take this thing for a ride!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

@ MrDerrick

Very interesting indeed and very odd event. Not sure how this happened.. :-(
Anyway, glad to hear that you're all up and running now!

I have a similar problem which suggests this is a bigger issue, worthy of devteams attention :(

I have a VOL-FP which i use intermittently with a MiniDSP 2x8. I have used the 2x8 for 3 years now, great product. Can't say the same for VOL-FP though

The input selector LED doesn't always update. When I change input with the remote, about 25% of the time the LED sometimes does not change. This results in false indication of input. However the input does change. I can also do the IR learning OK and use the VOL-FP IR receiver OK.

Interestingly, when I "hot plug" the VOL-FP, I get the same behaviour as the OP - source light will not light and can only toggle preset LED.
However when I reboot the whole stack, i get expected behaviour with source and preset LED's lit and able to toggle (via the digital pot/switch) through the selection of volume/input/preset.

When I plug the same VOL-FP board into my newly purchased MiniSHARC, I get the following behaviour:
- same behaviour as the OP - source light will not light and can only toggle preset LED, cannot access input select or volume control.
- no change in behaviour with any combination of device reset/firmware/powerup sequence/cable swap.
- IR programming does not work (using the same remote and VOL-FP board that works fine with the 2x8!)
I believe all of this this points to a timing/powerup issue with the VOL-FP board.
Obviously I can't use the MiniSHARC as it has no on-board control and the VOL-FP is ineffective.

What should I do? Send the MiniSHARC/VOL-FP back to miniDSP for diagnosis? Or order a new VOL-FP board on the chance that a different VOL-FP board might work?

Cheers,
Mike

Update: Diagnosed by Devteam as an incompatibility between my "old" VOL-FP and the MiniSHARC.

Ordered a new VOL-FP and all works well!

Cheers,
Mike

This is interesting to learn.
The VOL-FP supplied with my DDRC-22D will never operate correctly on power up.
When I first received the DDRC I opened the chassis and swapped the VOL-FP cabling end for end and then it worked.
Lately I have had to power down for extended periods due to thunderstorms.
Powering down means that EVERYTHING gets physically disconnected!
Every time I power back up, I have the save behavior from the VOL-FP, no DiracLive LED and no input source selection.
What I now do is unplug and re plug to cycle the DC power until the VOL-FP functions correctly.
This is a complete PITA.
My DDRC should still be warranted.

@ DevTeam
Should I open a ticket to request a new VOL-FP?

@ MrDerrick

Indeed, feel free to open a tech support ticket with us. We're here to help (support.minidsp.com)
FYI, the first question we'll ever ask is whether you're already running the latest firmware + software so to make sure that we're under the same condition. If you're unsure, maybe first step could be to double check this first.

You can easily see from the DDRC-22 utility software, "ABOUT" submenu will show you the FW revision when you're live and connected.

Thank you DevTeam,

The replacement VOL-FP arrived in 48 hours.

The replacement is operating perfectly.

I should have done this initially!
