Hello,
I'm considering a miniDSP for assistance with a difficult room. I am primarily interested in stereo, so the 22nd seems to fit the bill. The multi-channel unit doesn't seem that much more expensive though.
My system is dual purpose separates with HT bypass preamp.
Audio playback via oppo bdp-95 to AudioGD dac.

Hello,
I have a dual purpose 5.1/2.0 system, all separate's (HT bypass on preamp). The room it's in is the lowest fidelity link in the chain :(
I am much more inclined to 2.0 playback, than multi channel for critical listening. I am most interested in the DDRC-22D, but open to suggestions
The room is 13' x 16', with no solid wall behind the LP, countertop/bar open to kitchen behind. Best aesthetic/convenient location for mains and TV is centered on far wall. Room layout is not "treatment friendly".
Is the DDRC a good avenue to take for something like this?
2.0 playback currently via Oppo 95 > AudioGD dac > Rogue Audio > bi-amped mains

@ rikki900,

If your system is dual purpose, you might as well tune the whole setup (5.1) with a DDRC-88A indeed.
Dirac Live will do its magic for both Hifi stereo setup and 5.1. A simple preset recall and you can easily have 2 types of target curve (e.g. a bit more boomy maybe for the sound effects of a movie?) between your 2 listening experiences.

Thanks, I had considered the 88, but don't really want the extra A>D>A steps in the critical (to me :S ) 2.0 chain. I've somewhat tamed the 5.1 sub integration with REW / Ultracurve 24/96 combo.
The main aspects, of the 2.0 I'm trying to tame, are some midrange "roughness". I'm pretty sure this is room related as it maintains that "signature" regardless of equipment. Varies somewhat in severity, but is generally there. I'm thinking that, due to the symmetry of the room placement, I'm getting pattern......."smear/reinforcement/multipath?"(not sure of terminology), time and frequency errors.
The last time I ran REW, I had trouble (my fault) setting the "window" to see through the comb filtering of the room. I didn't pursue it because, at the time, I had no potential solution for it anyway.
Now, with possibly the DDRC.......hmmmm?

Why not just download the DIRAC trial.. and use it without the DDRC 22 to see if it will cure your issues
A cheaper alternative is the openDRC
I like the open DRC as it has a parametric hung on it and its much easier to "tune by ear" than the DIRAC solution

Not currently setup for computer audio, I run REW from a laptop when in use, so I have nothing "audio" to download either program to. If I set up computer audio first, I think I'd be evaluating another "interface" as well. I would like to get my "conventional" setup optimized first.
It's not that the system is terrible, but there is an annoying peak that happens in singer "presence?" region. This peak/roughness is VERY much absent about 2' forward of the primary listening position.

Get the openDRC.. you can just run the parametric .. you can then later use a program to do the FIR filters *acourate , brute Fir etc* $299 .. get the UMIK1 if you dont have one $70 and the Acourate FIR program acourateDRC is eu 70
You could also get the 4x10 hd , more filters available and more outputs
What you want to avoid if possible is any extra AD.DA stages..
Parametric will allow you to tune the irrritation out the midrange.. and correct bass too

Absolutely. If it can't happen in the digital domain, it's not coming to my system.
