Hi Flavio. Thanks for posting that pic! I have made a new pic to show Atmos on the Denon display, to make the point better :) It has automatically updated here.

My 'open box' unit has been previously activated so I am waiting for miniDSP to manually activate it for and add it to my Dirac account. As soon as that is done, I will run my new 7.2.4 Dirac calibration, which I am very excited about. Full Dirac Live on all 11 channels!

As I said over at AVS, when I have done the cal I will write a short Tutorial giving a step-by-step account of my method, which may help others thinking of going this route.

Best regards,

Keith

This is the brief report of my experience so far with my twin DDRC-88A's, originally posted at AVS Forum:

I spent several hours today setting up my second DDRC-88A to give full Dirac Live EQ on all the speakers in the 7.2.4 system. I will soon be publishing a step-by-step guide to the procedure, which is lengthy but remarkably simple and straightforward.

The big question I am guessing that most people who might consider going down this same path want answered is: so…. how does it sound? And is it worth the investment.

I have only just finished the two calibrations and have not had much opportunity yet to do in-depth listening evaluation. However, I can say without doubt that it is better than before.

There is a clearly audible difference, as one would hope when all 11 speakers are EQd. Is it worth another $950? For me, yes. For others, YMMV. I am hearing a ‘fuller’ sound from the overheads on Atmos demo content. I suspect it is the timbral match which the EQ has performed. But if you look at the Dirac ‘before’ graphs, the overheads’ FR was pretty dreadful, so it clearly shows a need for EQ up there. The sound also seems more ‘cohesive’ - hard to put into words. Am I happy with the result? You bet I am. Was it worth the money and the effort - yes for me it definitely was. And I have the peace of mind of knowing I have done it 'right'.

I’ll post the Dirac results graphs for the overheads later - I am bushed now and I want to watch an Atmos movie with this new, richer, fuller timbrally matched overhead speaker experience. What I will say now is that the graphs show a very clear need for EQ in the overhead speakers and my listening tests so far confirm the benefits.

It is surprisingly easy to run two 88As together but there are a large number of steps. I also have 4 ‘spare’ channels of course on the second 88A, so I am good for 9.1.6 Atmos, if any AVRs supported it. WOOT! Datasat eat your heart out :)

If anyone wants to read my step-by-step guide on how I set up the twin 88As it is downloadable in PDF form from my DropBox:

What a great report! Thanks for the info Keith and we'll certainly push your great tutorial to the Community forum (minidsp.com/support/community-powered-tutorials). Great effort that deserves exposure for the whole community! :-)

Thanks again for your feedback and hoping you're enjoying your 16ch Dirac Live setup!

I am really curious..is there every going to be a unti that adds additional speaker support IE for Atmos?... I think adding 2 units is somewhat a tricky and overkill project if you ask me...

@ dlynch34, A good question.. :-) Unfortunately our policy is to never talk of our product roadmap so we can't comment much on this question I'm afraid.. :-( Sorry.
Quite few people have ATMOS with the DDRC-88A, it isn't as hard as it seems.. It's just a matter of switching USB connection . With the DDRC-88BM, it provides configuration abilities not available on any other platforms I think..
