On Page 38 of the DDRC-88A User Guide, there is this picture of the output DIP switch: dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/78476446/AVS...t%20DIP%20Switch.JPG.

The wording says the Dip switch Up (On) position is the "Default" position, Yet my unit, and the 88A of several other people, came with the Dip switches in the Down (Off) position. I am thinking that the picture is mislabeled. Please confirm that if the Dip switches are in the Down (Off) position, the output for an unbalanced connection is .9Vrms. If that is correct, kindly consider correcting the User Guide.

Thanks.

Thanks for asking this, Jerry.

For the avoidance of doubt, this is how we are interpreting things over at AVS:

Dips UP = 2Vrms unbalanced, 8Vrms balanced.
Dips DOWN = 0.9Vrms unbalanced, 4Vrms balanced.

Correct?

The voltages are correct, looks like they're shipping with the switches down not up. (Mine was).

BTW you can easily verify which way is which - run a sweep, flip the switch, run a sweep.

By the number of questions I am asking, I think it is an indicator that the user guide could be writen with clearer guidelines. Thanks for your valued feedback.

This is true, John, but it shouldn't be necessary as the user manual should be correct.

Sure - my apologies if my reply sounded a bit snippy. What I was trying to say was that if the user manual was correct, then we wouldn't have to resort to the measures you suggested. I wasn't criticising your (helpful) response - just observing the inconsistencies in the manual.

The manual is correct about the voltages, just not which is the default. Regardless, miniDSP would probably find it more helpful if you compiled a list of issues in the manual clearly marked as preliminary, rather than pointing them out one at a time.

All the issues we have found so far over at AVS have already been advised to miniDSP. As you say, the manual currently contains information which is incorrect and hopefully it will be revised soon to avoid the subsequent confusion from being perpetuated unnecessarily.

Hey Guys,

Just to quickly highlight that yes we do know of this inconsistency of the user manual (i.e. DEFAULT word should be put on other line). The remaining information is correct. We modified the "DEFAULT" word on shipping day last month and we forgot to update the user manual. It's a prelim rev and hoping that by mid/end of this week, the final rev will be there. It will include a lot more details on how to setup the unit. Thanks for your patience and sorry for confusion.
