I have only been able to program volume up and down using a SONY blueray player remote !

Any suggestions on a remote which can handle most of the functions ?

Sony, Nec, Philips and Apple remote (the neat one we believe) are indeed compatible and tested fine.

May I ask how this works with the Apple Remote? I mean can the DDRC be programmed incrementally? Without having had one in my hands actually the Apple Remote doesn't seem to have any dedicated buttons to for example have the 4 different correction filters at your fingertips. So how does this work? Or could I put Slot 1 on left, Slot 2 on top etc and bypass on play/pause for example? I don't need volume control, just quick access to the four slots and to be able to bypass the whole thing entirely.

Thanks!

@Beauvais,

You've got a very good point that the DDRC-22D utility didn't get the addition of source select button (i.e. rotate source) and preset inc/dec. These 2 features will allow the limited number of buttons to work. We're adding the ability to have the apple remote used without any learning process. That will be added to the next firmware upgrade and currently under process. Thanks for your patience!

When can we expect the firmware update to be released for use of the Apple remote?

There are a few of us that have been asking for apple remote firmware for the minisharc (same board) for a long while with no luck, it really would be very very handy so hopefully it'll come out soon.

Please ;-)

Dear All,

Good news is that anybody with a minISHARC/OpenDRC line or DDRC can now control his product using his apple remote! We thank all of you for your patience... :-)
To simplify the programming (and due to space/firmware limitation), there isn't any "IR learning" required. The Apple remote is automatically recognized on this firmware with preprogrammed buttons as follow:
minidsp.com/images/documents/apple_remote_button_definition.pdf

Have a trial by downloading the firmware from the user downloads and let us know if any questions.

Gentlemen,

I can't find the miniDSP_Upgrade_Tool application for updating my unit mentioned on page 35 of the manual. Could you please give me a link. I do have the new hex file.
Thank you.

Oops, indeed missing info here.. :-)
Check out: C:\Program Files\MiniDSP\DDRC-22\firmware_tools\Windows

You'll find the app there.

Thanks for the info, but I actually found the upgrade app in the C:\Program Files (x86)\MiniDSP\DDRC-22\firmware_tools\Windows directory. The only sub-directory under C:\Program Files\MiniDSP\ is Dirac Live. I hope this helps anyone else having trouble finding the app.

Well I can't get mine to work. Tried following the instructions for my minisharc upgrade. Didn't work, everything still works as it should but my Apple remote still doesn't do anything. Any ideas devteam? Should I start a ticket for this or keep it here?

Back to using the Sony remotes that jump by 4.5dB each click
