Hey there!

So i recently received my DDRC-22D after an absolutely amazing experience with the software version of Dirac DRC.

I installed the DDRC-22D in my car, providing steady 5V by using one of the Mean Well 12V->5V power supplies.
I have a simple 3-way plus sub set up in my car: Headunit has the MOST optical output. It is fed to moBridge MOST->TOSLINK adapter. Then, the signal from moBridge adapter goes into Audison BitOne. Here, crossovers and time alignment are applied. And then the signal is fed to the amplifiers: subwoofer, midbass, midrange and tweeter.

Here is how my car setup looks:

As you can see in the diagram, i inserted DDRC-22D between moBridge and Audison BitOne, so that i can apply correction to a signal that is crossed over and time aligned.

The problem is, when i connect DDRC-22D and BitOne with an optical cable, Bit One goes into the reboot loop. So, my assumption is that something is wrong with the optical signal that is fed into the Bit One's optical input. This happens with the optical cable from moBridge adapter both connected and disconnected with the DDRC-22D input.

I have reasons to believe that DDRC-22D is running properly, because windows can see it with no problem. I could connect to it with the utility and I could obtain the serial number and activate the calibration tool. I can also send test sounds to check levels. Alas, i can't hear them because BitOne is not running properly.

Once the toslink cable from bitone is disconnected or the optic is connected to moBridge adapter, it starts behaving normally again.

So, is it some compatibility issue between two devices?

In the BitOne Tech Sheet, it is stated that the optical and coaxial digital inputs are only capable of handling Max 48kHz / 24 bit, PCM. In the Dirac Manual, in the troubleshooting section, it is stated, that one must "Confirm that the connected DAC accepts 96 kHz sample rate on its input".

So, does it mean that the Audison simply can not handle the sample rate that Dirac provides?
Is it possible to somehow switch to a lower sample rate with Dirac? That would cure the problem, i guess.

Arty,

Sounds like a neat setup indeed.. :-)
Your problem indeed is likely to the Bitone since our digital output is 24/96k only and Bitone tech sheet clearly implies that they wouldn't be able to handle more than 48k. We unfortunately don't support lower sample rates as it would imply a serious redesign of the software + firmware to allow a complete set of filters.

One potential way to do that would be to use a Sample Rate Converter in between able to convert the 96k from DDRC-22D to the 48k for Bitone. You could do that with a miniDIGI board. www.minidsp.com/products/minidspkits/minidigi

Hoping this info helps.

Yeah, seems like the problem is indeed in the sample rate differences.

BitOne has analog inputs as well. I was thinking about installing some DAC between DDRC and BitOne. The signal that is fed into the amplifiers from BitOne is analog anyway, so i don't think i will lose too much quality wise. What do you think?

Sure, that's indeed a good alternative! That will work perfectly fine for your setup. Just make that that this DAC is immune to noise I guess.. Maybe need something like a DC-DC to isolate the noise that could flow to the analog stage of that DAC. (DDRC doesn't care since we're all digital)
