Hi! I got my DDRC-22D and with some messing around got it setup in our office system. Overall the results were great,although, I may have had the microphone too high in relation to the tweeter of the custom MTM we were testing with. Just a bit bright after calbrating. Great bass! . No time to raise the speakers and try again at this point. I noticed "brightness" with Audyssey when off axis when calibrating as well. We will be moving the DDRC-22D to it's final home shortly. I am wondering if there is a way to get a longer connection from the microphone to device? One of my techs mentioned a USB to network adaptor. Thanks!

How long do you need? You could just use a longer USB cable or USB extension. Up to a point, anyway, I often use a longer cable with the UMIK, I think it's 4 meters, I'm not sure that I've actually used it with the DDRC but I would think it will work fine.

This installation has the equipment in a closet a couple of rooms away from the listening room. With Audyssey pro, I can run 100 feet (30 meters) plus from the microphone to the processor. We would probably need 50 feet (15 meters) or so of cable between the microphone and processor.. Of course I can bring the Dirac unit into the room for the calibration and then back in the rack once complete. Nick our lead tech mentioned something about a usb to network adaptor allowing super long USB runs. Thanks for the input!

You should not exceed the max length specified by the USB specs... 5 meters for 2.0, but you can use an active one which can be found at a relatively low cost, i.e. here:

Great to hear that you got the DDRC-22D setup. Sounds exciting.
As for the USB cable, you unfortunately will run into some distance limitations. There are some active USB extender which will introduce power and make sure the signal keeps its integrity. That's what you should be looking at instead of long passive USB cables (above the distance limitation of 5m)

We were able to go over 50 feet without any problems using this USB balun from MCM. Loved the after equalization results we got with an old pair of Madisound MDY-3s our client had (Dynaudio components). Really smoothed out the sound. Driving the speakers with a new NAD 3020 amplifer. It might be a bit small for the application,but sounds terrific. Does anyone else notice an output drop using the Dirac device?

Hi Dingle,

all DRCs, and EQs in general, will require an output level drop (some headroom) in order to avoid digital clipping when some specific frequencies require a boost, as a result you will have to turn the volume clockwise more than usual to get the same overall volume.
