Hello,

I'm currently setting up the gains on my cdsp 8x12 v2 and amps.

To this end I have been sending a 0dB 1000hz singal via rew generator, through a usb sound card to the cdsp via toslink.

The input shows a 0db signal. All filters, peq, x-overs etc are zeroed out.

On the output of the DSP I see clipping unless I either reduce the digital input or on the routing page, reduce the routed signal by -1.4dB.
What is going on!? I'm frustrated as with my current hidden setup, adjusting the amp gains isn't just a matter of twiddling the dial. I have to remove trim and loosen the amp to get to the dial.

Can anyone make any suggestions?

Kind regards.

Jai Stanley.

Scratch that. It seems I was clipping the scopes input with the output of the DSP. With the probes set to X10 I get a 'clean' signal. Well, waveform, there's a lot more noise with the input attenuated but I can blame my poor quality hantek usb scope for that I assume!  Unless it was something like the impedance at 1x making the DSP clip?

Any ideas and pointers in general are appreciated though!

Jai

@Jai

Most likely a measurement issue indeed...
Overall, you wouldn't want to have 0dBFS input as reference though.. That would mean you'd have ZERO headroom.. :-)

Just keep at least 10dB of headroom on in/out. That's the safe method for giving you enough space for EQ.
