It says that the output voltage is 6v but my sub amp only accepts up to 5v.
Is that 6v set or can you turn the "gain" down and make it usable for my 5v?
I'd like to know before I order one.
Thanks!

Absolutely, if you turn the level down by -2 dB on C-DSP you will effectively limit the max output voltage to 4.8 v (6 v x 10^(-2/20) = 4.8 v). There are many ways you can achieve this (master volume, output level, input level).

Also keep in mind you will only see 6 v when playing 0 dBfs material at full volume which is obviously not typical.

I am having a related problem, but from the opposite perspective. I am wondering if the output voltage is too low?

I am running a coaxial digital signal into my CDPS8x12DL. The signal is coming in to the DSP at 0 dbFS, with no volume adjustment.
I have the CDSP volume controller and turn that all the way up to 0 dB, full volume.

My speakers are playing, but the sound level is VERY quiet. I turned up my amp gains quite a bit and the sound is still not getting loud at all.

I went into the Plugin and I turned up the input gain to +12 dB at the routing screen, and that helped some but not enough.

Then I turned the channel gain up to +12 dB, which helped more but still not enough.

With all of those gains maxed out, and my amp gain turned up, I still can't get my speakers playing loud enough.

Is there something I am missing? Maybe an issue with the digital input? The level meter for the digital input is showing green but never exceeds about half. Likewise with the channel meters. They are showing about half.

If you are seeing input levels below half (which is around -36 dB) it definitely sounds like you are dealing with some source attenuation issues.

Have you tried a different source?

With music playing, my input levels are showing about -30 to -22 dB on the digital input meters.

It might be worthwhile to send a signal of known level to the CDSP and measure the output voltage. Not sure of what tools you have at your disposable but if you have a computer with a TOSLINK or digital coaxial output you can use REW to send a 0 dBFS sine wave to the CDSP and measure the output voltage with a DMM.

What amplifiers are you using? What is their input sensitivity? Do you have this issue when Dirac is engaged and when it is bypassed?

Dirac is bypassed. I have not tuned Dirac yet, I am not at that point yet.

Source is an RME ADI-2 Pro FS running AES digital output to a DDRC-22D, and then coaxial digital from the DDRC-22D to the CDSD8x12DL.

Volume output on the DDRC-22D is 0 dB. Attenuation is -10 dB (default). Dirac is currently OFF.

RCA cables from CDSP to Sinfoni amplifiers.

I had this CDSP installed in a different car previously, and it worked well.

I can measure the output voltage, I do have an o-scope that has an RCA input and reads voltage. Will report back when I have time to test again.

Likely not the issue but something to check:

The levels (and delays) displayed in the Dirac tab will effect the signal even with Dirac turned off. Could even be from a tune that was done years ago. DSP need to be reset to factory default to clear them.

I did a firmware update before I set up the DSP for this car. Did that not reset the Dirac?

I don't believe so. I remember my 1.0 config was still working just fine even after updating firmware & plugin to Dirac 3.0.

I did a factory reset and that has cured my low voltage output issue. I am now getting good levels out of the DSP to my amps. Thanks for the tip!

My understanding is that the V2 max output voltage is 4.5V not 6V like it says in the manual...Is that not correct?

I believe you are correct that the output voltage was reduced from 6V to 4.5V with v2 but to be honest the documentation is not clear (datasheet says 4.5V, specifications and user manual say 6V).

Either way would be simple enough to measure the actual output voltage to confirm.
