I believe there is a bug in the Dirac Live tool on OS X Mojave using the UMIK-1. When I try to run calibration the mic isn't capturing any audio. When I try to open the mic with REW as an alternative, it works fine once I've upgraded to the latest beta of REW and granted microphone access in OS X -> General -> Security -> Privacy (part of the new OS X privacy sandboxing in Mojave). I took a look at the Dirac Live tool maintained by Dirac, and their most recent build has fixed this Mojave access issue and documented it in their release notes.

Is this a known issue? Are others experiencing it? IS there a work around (downgrading OS X isn't really an option for me)? If it is a known issue, any chance of backporting the Dirac change to the version that works with Mini DSP so this works on Mojave?

Has anyone else had success using the tool on Mojave? Any tricks to getting this to work I should try?

@bmeek

There is indeed a little bug on Mojave + Dirac 1.0 for multichannel. There is a build under the user downloads section that solves this.

I only have access to the c-dsp download section. Have you fixed that tool as well?

Same issue here.

I just got my 8x12DL and updated the firmware & reset it. I've got music playing from the toslink to a 4 speaker system just fine.

The DLCT cal process works up until the sweeps. The sweeps sound fine (90db+) on each of the four speakers, but there is no meter level readout in the DLCT from the UMIK1, and the cal fails because "level is too low".

I'm using Mojave 10.14.5. I don't see any special files in the user downloads that relate to DLCT or Mojave?

Edit: I've been into the Mojave audio settings and it shows I've given access to other audio programs (audacity, etc), but DLCT doesn't even show up on this list to allow access to?

I too just started doing trying c-dsp dirac correction on macos, and I get the same issues: When I play the test signals in the outputs & levels tab of the dirac program, the level meters do not show any signal; there is no blue level indication. Furthermore when I hit proceed and tried to do a measurement, the dirac program crashes on my mac in the middle of the measurement. I had downloaded the macos software and updated the firmware a couple of days ago, so I should have the latest versions, yet the problem occurs and I can't get past it.

I can verify that my u-mik1 is not dead because it does show levels when I connect to it in fuzzmeasure demo.

@devteam, is the previous post correct that you posted a fix but not for c-dsp, and if so can we expect a fix for c-dsp dirac?

I'm having this same issue, no level readout in DLCT using UMIK-1 and halfway through the measurement sweeps the application just crashes.
DLCT has not asked operating system (macOS 10.14.6) for permission to use the microphone, unlike REW which has been granted mic access. Just downloaded everything and updated firmware on a non-DL C-DSP today, so everything is newest available in the user download section.

The DLCT version provided in the download is version-1.2.41.8863 with a build date of May 9th, 2019.

Main board firmware 2.6 - Sept 6th, 2019

C-DSP 8x12DL app version 1.7 - Sept 15th, 2019

On one hand it is great to see that I'm not the only one, but on the other hand....... :)

I've been using an Asus netbook so far with the plug in and with DL - small, convenient....but terrible trackpad, etc. I was happy when I downloaded the software on my 15" MacBook Pro, and the Plug In worked flawlessly - much better, faster than the netbook (and Mac OS instead of Windows....).

Last night - just wanted to do a quick 2 channel DL run....Mic didn't show - in Settings - Sound - the Mic was showing up just fine, but in the DL software - nothing. I have Mojave as well, and I just checked the Security setting that the OP helpfully provided, and DL doesn't show as a program asking for permission - not sure how to force that. Hopefully by tagging on here, I'll see a solution. I grabbed the netbook last night night and was just about to Synchronize Configuration when I stopped and asked a friend about that.....NO!......was his answer......I would have pushed what was on the netbook on to the DSP, replacing what was on the DSP that had been done with the Mac - Thank Goodness for knowledgeable friends!

I've had to use Parallels so I can run my Win10 Bootcamp installation at the same time, using macOS for miniDSP plugin and win10 for DLCT. Not ideal, but it works. When switching between the 2 tools, since you can't bind a USB device to both operating systems at the same time, you have to unplug then replug the C-DSP USB cable and choose which OS it will be used on, but you can at least have both tools open at the same time this way.

I looked in the User Downloads section and was not able to identify a piece of software that would allow the Mac with Mojave OS to use the microphone with the DL software. Could you point me in the correction location? I would LOVE to use my Mac when using DL.

Is there any work being done on this?

My Mac works incredibly well with the Plug-In.

My Mac 'sees' the microphone in the MIDI settings.

My Mac 'sees' the microphone in the Dirac software. But, when you tap the microphone, it does not register.

My Asus netbook continuously stops outputting the audio - reboot, start up again - dumps again. I'm stuck with either getting Windows 10 loaded on the Mac in Bootcamp or buying another PC laptop which I am loath to do. I have used Parallels and VMWare before, and I didn't like either program - would be more trouble for me than it is worth.

Hi All,

Installed the latest DDRC-24 v1.8d2 and the Dirac Live V2.3.0 build 242-d3109be6 on a Mojave installed MacBook Air.
Everything works except I'm stuck at the same issue as posted above, with no sound passing through from the uMik-1 to the Dirac Live software. Signal from the uMik is testet in other apps to be working.

Any clues ? Can't seem to find the "DLCT build that is under the userdownloads section." other than what I already downloaded.

Help please,

Thank you

Henrik

Seeing the same problem on my MacOS with C-DSP 8x12 DL plugin. I do not see anything in my Downloads that would allow me to work around this issue. Any updates on this? This bug should be considered high severity since it makes MacOS plugin inoperable. Any workarounds for this?

I did some more research on this as I am fairly new to OSX (I mostly use Linux and some Windows) and the core of the problem is the new Mojave security feature where the OS manages access to the microphone via system security settings. When an app needs access to the microphone, it needs to request it which pops up a prompt on the screen and the user can authorize or deny access. When this was introduced, it broke a bunch of OSX apps that worked just fine on previous version. I found lots of forums threads where people run into this issue.....thanks Apple! Anyways, the dev team needs to fix this in DLCT. I assume it needs to be rebuilt on Mojave to support this. I can ping one of my OSX devs to confirm this.

@devteam, it sounds like a simple fix. It would be great if we could get a beta build. I can test it for you and verify it works, if needed,

So I just spent the time and money to upgrade a 2x4HD to DDRC-24 only to find Dirac can't take measurements from my UMIK-1 on Mojave and no indication of when, if ever, it will be fixed. It's frustrating, to say the least. Are the people over at Dirac aware of this issue and do they care?
