USB Audio Streaming

The miniDSP U-DIO8 is a pocket size USB Asynchronous interface with support for up to 8 channels of audio recording and 8 channels of playback. Inputs and outputs are digital and available in 2 versions (AES/EBU or SPDIF). A standard TASCAM pinout DB-25 connector to XLR (AES-EBU version) or DB25 to BNC (SPDIF version) is used for connectivity.

Thanks to 8 channels of high quality sample rate converters on all inputs, the U-DIO8 supports recording of any input rate (44.1~192k). On the output side, the digital output matches the playback sample rate selected in the driver. The U-DIO8 is an ideal solution for high-resolution multi-channel audio, computer-based (HTPC) home theater, live sound, surround-sound mixing and mastering.

NOTE: To insure correct impedance matching, note that U-DIO8 comes in two versions. (AES-EBU or SPDIF) with different internal PCB assemblies. Please make sure to select the correct format you'd like to use.

miniDSP UDIO-8 Review

Kalman Rubinson from Stereophile Magazine is no stranger to the world of Multichannel audio and Digital Room Correction. We're very excited at the latest review of the UDIO-8 published in the September issue stating. Make sure to check it out here.

"

The immediate impact: With a single inexpensive device, miniDSP has suddenly and effectively created dozens and dozens of multichannel DACs to choose from. Three or four samples of any DAC with an S/PDIF or AES-EBU input can now, together, act as a multichannel DAC when connected to a single miniDSP U-DIO8. All of those who've been complaining about the mere handful of multichannel DACs available: your time has come. The miniDSP U-DIO8 is as indispensable to multichannel audio as a cream filling is to an Oreo.
