The miniDSP UMA-XL module is a distributed microphone array module as part of the miniDSP UMIK-X kit. Compared to the standard UMIK-X with UMA-4 with fixed rectangular array modules, the UMA-XL modules allow more flexibility in microphone placement. The daisy-chained modules can be spread out thanks to the Analog Devices A2B protocol. The chain can be up to 40 meters long.

The 16 channels are interfaced via the included USB-A2B interface of the UMIK-X, which provides 16 channels at 24-bit/44.1 or 48 kHz. The USB-A2B is a UAC-2 compliant interface and is driverless for macOS and Linux. For Windows, an ASIO driver is provided.

The UMIK-X is compatible with the multi-channel measurement capability of Room EQ Wizard ( Applications include environmental monitoring, distributed soundfield measurement, room and hall equalization and distributed subwoofer tuning.

WARNING:This product page offering is for exising UMIK-X customers looking to upgrade their system with the UMA-XL module only. The UMA-XL will not operate standalone as it requires a UMIK-X system (USB to A2B/Wiring/REW license.. etc). If you'd like to purchase a complete UMIK-X multichannel measurement system with UMA-4/UMA-XL, please use this product page instead

Using the miniDSP UMIK-X with Multi-Sub Optimizer

This app note demonstrates how to use the miniDSP UMIK-X multichannel measurement microphone with Multi-Sub Optimizer (MSO). Because the UMIK-X measures multiple channels with a single sweep, there is no need to move the microphone to measure in multiple locations, greatly simplifying and speeding up complex measurement and optimization procedures.

Please note that MSO is third-party software. miniDSP is not able to directly provide support for this software. For questions or issues specifically related to MSO, please refer to the AVS Forum MSO discussion thread.
