@ Brendon,

Good eye on the DIP switch.. ;-)
We took that picture with a sample we grabbed on hand. The DIP switches can be adjusted to your liking but your understanding is correct with regards to the look up table at the back.
- Position ON (i.e. DIP closest to ON) is at the top and equivalent to 1 when you look at the look up table at the back of the PCB.
- Position OFF (i.e. DIP close to the number 1/2/3) is at the bottom and equivalent to position 0.

By default all mics were shipped in position 0dB. Right now, they are shipped with analog gain to 12dB (1/0/0). If you want to increase the gain of your current microphone, you can do so easily by moving the DIP switches. Worth a try. :-)

Feel free to contact us if any questions.

I have serial 515 and would like to have the unit replaced. You're packing method for Option 1 seems insufficient to protect the mic on return. Are the mics re-worked or replaced???

If replaced would it be sufficient to prove destruction of original?

Hi devteam,
I have UMIK nr. 461.
I wold like to choose Opt.2, and replace the PCB. But I only want to do this if you promise:
* the calibration file is exactly correct for the new PCB.
* can you tell me what rework you make to Rev.C - is it only the capacity 100uF, or do you change more?
* Can I choose the Gain for myself on the new Rev-C-UMIK-PCB (I tested my Rev.B-UMIK and for my home-room mesuerements it will be best to take a Gain of 18-24dB ?
* It was no problem to open the UMIK, and taking the PCB out. Soldering cables like this I have often done. But if something goes wrong by changing the PCB, can I send the UMIK then back to you and you change the UMIK?
* Is it possible to get the replace a few weeks later (after other peoples have testet the RevC)
* What do I have to do ro start the Opt.2-delivery-process of the PCB?

@ Cfelliot,

The mics will not be replaced for Option1 (i.e. complete refund). Please get in touch with our team as per the step by step in the post. We still want to get the microphones back to us.

@ jsteinh,

Not sure we'll be able to answer all your requests here as we're trying to do this process as simple as possible (hence the 2 options). Hoping you understand.. Thanks!

- Calibration file: If you add a capacitor, it will not affect the calibration file. It's just the noise floor peaks being removed. That's all.
- You can indeed open the mic and just choose the gain yourself. If you use REW and SPL feature, you just need to edit the sensitivity setting of the calibration file accordingly.
- Did you try to add a capacitor already? That's really the trick here. As we tried to explain, that's what we're trying to solve here for people who are unhappy about these peaks and don't know how to solder a CAP.

Hoping this makes sense.

Hi DevTeam
I don´t know how adding a capacitor (to solder it on the PCB at the SMD-Resistor). The SMD is to small for my solder equipment and also for my hands.
I would like to choose Option 2 and replace the PCB. If I understood your offer rihgt: you send a new PCB with no charge to me and I replace it.

* What do I have to do to start the Opt.2-delivery-process?

I just received my refund for UMIK-1. I'm VERY satisfied with the customer support for this recall and will probably do business with this company in the future.

Is there a rough ETA on when all issues will be resolved as well as supply ready to ship a single UMIK-1 to USA?
Thanks,

So reading more it seems the calibration file I first received is not correct down to 5hz, I would have to download a new calibration file that is good to only 20hz? I bought this specifically for subwoofer measurements so that is not acceptable.

I will go ahead and submit an e-mail to see how to proceed.

I just got my email to send the Mic back, but it says to ship everything, box and accessories included, to an address in Canada. Is this correct? Have you changed instructions since you posted this thread?

Hi, before I ship my mic back I would like to verify that the entire package should go to the Canada address in my email. This is contrary to what was first posted about shipping only the mic. I have no problem either way, just wanted to verify.
Thanks

@ Mattcc22. That's indeed correct. For some shipments in North America, we're now organizing a return all accessories included to an address in Canada. Feel free to contact our team if the email sent is missing information. (few very simple steps).

Hi melomane,
take two nails und put them into the 2 little wholes (in the ring) at the backside of the microphone. Then try to rotate the ring at the two nails like a normal screw.
If you cannot rotate the nails by your Hand/fingers you can try to take tongs.
