Could the UMIK microphone be used with STEPS or ARTA?

Don't see any reason why not. The Umik-1 simply appears as a recording device in the Win/Mac osx drivers. So you just need to select it as a source in your preferences.

Hoping this info helps.

There is one attention point when measuring with Arta: since the UMIK-1 and the soundcard that generates the measuring signal are 2 distinct sound devices, their sample frequency might not be fully matched. with some types of measuremnt signals, this could lead to a lower quality measurement. I asked Arta, and they advised this:

When you use USB mic, then you must use generator signal from other soundcard which always has some difference in sampling frequency. That is why, you can’t use in ARTA methods that estimate impulse response by cross-correlation with periodic noise and MLS signals, but you may use swept sine IR measurements as it is treated as aperiodic signal.
