Hi, so my umik 1 broke after 4 years, so i thought i buy a umik 2
Works but my measurments are very inconsistent. never had an issue with the umik 1
I already send 2 request  but havent got an answer after 2 weeks...

so maybe someone can help me understand if the umik2 is faulty or i need to change something in rew?

mdat  of 5 measurments with timing ref on (each measurment right after the other)
and 4 measurments without timing ref off  is attached

I run hdmi form laptop (asio4all) to denon 6500h, into minidsp 88a bm

TIA
Chris

Did you get this resolved? I just had at quick look at the data you uploaded and there's something very wrong there. As well as the frequecy response variability you noted there is also a crazy high level of harmonic distortion, and if you zoom right out on the impulse response the noise level before the actual impulse is way too high.

Hi, and thx for looking at it.
No unfortunatly not also haven´t heard anything from minidsp.
But i opened up my umik 1  and got it working again after playing with the switches. Noise floor was fine again, so i used it to do the 88a-bm  dirac meassurment.
Didn´t get around to testing again since then, but im building 2 new Subs so i will be meassuring again soon (hopefully until the end of the year) and will try the umik 2 again.

I'm surprised you didn't get a response from miniDSP Support. Have you checked your junk mail folder?

So i put my new Subs in place and tried the umik 2 with rew again.
But Again got inconsistant results
also the Timing reference/ Delay is way off with umik 2: 328ms
with umik 1 i get 4ms  Delay

Anyone any Idea? Driver issue?? Cable?
Or any way i can  test the Umik2  to defect?

TIA
Chris

@ Gress

Sorry for the late reply on this.. We had to investigate with John @ REW on this issue. We already replied to your support ticket but for other's information sake, the unreliable results are related to measurement artifact with the very low SNR you have. Make sure you have
a) Quiet room
b) Loud signal playing from your speakers.

You should get reliable measurements.

Hi,

I just answer to the email.
Just remeassured with the umik1  and 2 in one file.
also  added pics of the settings
Mdat attached here as Zip

I only changed from umik2 to umik1 and loaded calibration file, no change in volume, position or whatever.

I calibratet my subs with the umik1  which is the straight line in the Graph pic  also in the graph pic are 4  measurments with umik 1 all identical with no diviation at all.  and umik2 are all over the place i mean im at 100dB  and my room is at ~38-44db how loud does it need to be.

@Gress

You already have a support ticket open, we already have a team answering them. Let's please not start double work to copy on few places the exact same information?
Most likely related to UMIK-2 having a lower sensitivity than UMIK-1 by nature. You can't just switch over without actually making sure that you have the right level.

Thanks a ton for your understanding!

@devteam

Yeah its fine to communicate on one channel.
lets do it here  so  if anyone has the same problem  he can read it

So i played around a little and  higher sweeplvl didnt change anything also i couldnt go much higher sweep lvl my room is already shaking at 100db doing the sweeps at 115 its almost breaking apart  :D (At least thats what i thought u want me to try because of low Signal to noise ratio, im german so maybe lost in Translation :) )

So i looked at the Asio settings and changed some things, apperently i needed to change  the latencybuffer from 0  to 32 or 48 sample (didnt have time to play with it too much to see what changes)  and a buffer offset  of 9ms  in the Asio Settings

now its almos 1-2db consistant  which is fine. playing around more when i have the time.

Or is there a "Set" rule  what the asio settings should be for Umik2? Windows 10
