I waited a year and 4 days to get out my UMIK-1, big, big mistake.

No matter what laptop I plug it into (USB 2.0 only or USB 3.0 capable), no matter what cord I use (supplied or my own), and no matter how hard I press the cord into the socket of the UMIK-1, I always get the usb not recognized error.

If I look in device manager, the listing says the error is
"""
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

A request for the USB device descriptor failed.
"""
I checked in microphone privacy settings and apps are allowed to access the mic (as per the sticky) though I don't think this would affect a USB bus protocol fault.

Super disappointed that I didn't get this thing out and test it before the warranty expired.

Are there any board level repairs I can do to get this mic working again or am I out $70?

Thanks,

This could well be an IT issue rather than a fault with the microphone that would benefit from a repair.

I'd suggest you contact miniDSP support in the first instance.
