JohnM has released a version of REW 5.16 which can use an acoustic timing reference. This allows one to make accurate and reproducible phase measurements with the UMIK-1. Previously this was only possible with an analogue mike and a loopback cable on one channel of the soundcard.

Now might be a good time to update an old miniDSP tutorial or create a new one outlining phase tracking in crossover designs. Anybody can get two drivers and slap some 4th order Linkwitz Rileys and some delay in there. Sure with the right amount of delay the frequency response will look all good on-axis, but off-axis it will look like a dog's dinner.

The UMIK-1 is now more versatile with REW 5.16 and it might be an idea to highlight this and put up an Application Tutorial.

@ deChrLam

Great suggestions and thanks for bringing this up. We did have already on our TODO list to put together an app note for the timing feature. We'll look into adding this. Thanks for your suggestion.
