UMIK-1 is supplied with a sponge wind filter. I am unclear what this filter is for & if or when to use it.
Is the calibration file made with the sponge filter on or off?
Please clarify

It's a wind filter, to be used if you make a measurement in a windy/outdoor place. Likelyhood that you'd ever use it for your home is very very slim unless your Hifi setup is in the garden by the sea with roaring winds. :-)
For 99.9% of cases, don't use it. Calibration file is "WITHOUT" the windscreen.

The windfilter can also be used if the mic will be left out overnight on tripod, or in dusty environment, to prevent dust getting on the mic capsule area.

That is what I use it for.
I leave the mic up on the tripid overnight sometimes because I may be doing more test the next day. Minimizes handling by not having to put the mic away in the box everytime.

Great point @ DozerSoldier! Thanks for sharing your experience. We indeed didn't think of this. :-)
