The labels on the microphone with serial numbers smudge. Watch out not to make the number unreadable. The smudging is mainly caused by warm weather and high friction contact with fingers an/or the microphone stand. As backup I put a new plastic label from a label writer completely around the smaller part of the microphone so the stand has no contact with it. Perhaps MiniDSP can say something about this and hopefully use non-smudging labels in the future.

@ Pander,

Thanks for the follow up and indeed good to know. We didn't know of this. We can investigate. Can you please show us which version you've got? (we've got few types of stickers online).

Thanks it does. We can see how we can get that label modified for the future.

ouch, just got my mic and its smudged. i didnt look at the serial number until i put it in the stand. the stand is definitely smudging it. my last number is smudged like yours. is there any secondary way to tell what the serial number is? my last number looks like a 0 but can also be a 6 or maybe even an 8. i tried scanning the barcode with a bar code scanner app on my android phone but it also wouldnt take.

Mine is worse than that and none of the numbers can be seen!! What makes it even worse is that i lost all my data from my laptop and now can't use my mic with REW.

@ mojogoes,

Easiest would be to get in touch with out team (minidsp.desk.com) to see if they can investigate your order. If it was placed on minidsp.com, we might be able to track the SN# knowing we do tracking. If it was placed through another dealer, then you might want to contact them directly to see if they logged the SN# .

@ mojogoes,

Mmh, in that case, it would be hard. Did you know that we have all SN# on the cardboard of the UMIK-1? It's a bar code sticker.
Did you keep that cardboard?

Here is another trick we just thought about. If your SN# is a bar code, you might be able to read it with a free phone Bar code application. Worth a trial.

Are you taking about the bar code sticker on the umik-1 mic itself as the bar code has rubbed off as per this/other thread
If your talking about a different piece of cardboard? where would this be located in the actual original packaging / box.

Steve.

Steve,

Ok, BOTH the bar code AND the number below the bar code disappeared? mmmh..
The UMIK-1 is packaged in one cardboard + one plastic case. The SN# will be on the cardboard.

I don't have my serial number anymore.Threw the packaging away and now I have no way to retrieve it unless the staff at Mini DSP can track it.I did order it directly from Mini DSP and have the order number. Will they be able to if I reach out?
