Hello,
I would like to build myself a DAC using MiniDSP components that will in future also allow me to do room correction and other experiments.
For now I need these features:

1) usb input (asynchronous)
2) some digital input (spdif)
3) XLR or TRS balanced output
4) (possibly) remote
5) (possibly) 384khz support (I would like to experiment with oversampling algorithms)

Then I would experiment with room correction, oversampling and dithering (like radsone).
What products do I need to buy to do it myself?
Do opendrc products have inside software for room correction or they are only bare hardware?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Mario

Options:
  1. nanoSHARC. Has USB and TOSLINk input, and you need to connect your own DAC via I2S. Balanced output therefore up to you. Can use only the 2x4 HD1 plugin so # taps are limited (e.g. for DRC)
  2. miniSHARC. Needs external input board e.g. DIGI-FP. Or you can connect a USB interface via I2S. Connect your own DAC via I2S. Balanced output therefore up to you. Can use OpenDRC-2x2 plugin at 48 kHz which gives more taps (I forget exactly but check the miniSHARC manual)

OpenDRC means design your own filter using 3rg party tool - see www.minidsp.com/applications/advanced-tools/fir-filter-tools

All DSP products run at fixed internal sample rate, either 48 or 96k

Infact I started evaluating opendrc-DA that is almost perfect but I do not understand if usb can be used as audio input and if it has a remote.

Hi again, no, the USB connection cannot be used for streaming audio. Yes, it can learn remote codes.
