How about giving the SHD user the possibility to (re)define the input labels ? This would allow one's SHD to display CD / DVD / Phono / etc rather than TOSLINK / SPDIF / RCA / etc.

Ha! You would think this is simple, right?

devteam said, over two years ago, “sure, we can see that in the future.” Two years ago! I’ve emailed them about it in the last year, and it’s come up in other threads, so it’s not like this is the last time someone brought it up.

You would think Roon would be finished, you would think they would add Tidal Connect over three months after it became available to other Volumio users, you would think they’d tell everyone whether Dirac Live Bass Control is possible / likely / impossible / unlikely, but they don’t care to communicate with us.

@ loran.mory,

unfortunately after a close chat with the engineers, it's not possible to modify the labels on the firmware architecture. This "request" was indeed in our list and evaluated by engineers but not implemented for that reason. Maybe in future hardware platforms, we can architecture the sw/fw differently to support such request.
