Is there a reason to limit the fastest attack time to 15msec on the miniDSP-HD?

I have many applications where I am using gain and limiting the threshold to increase the total loudness. I typically will add 12~18dB of compression, but with these settings and a 15sec attack time, I get severe clipping.

On the MiniDSP (original) the fastest attack time is 1msec. This would definitely be requested also on the "HD" version!

I forgot if there was a reason but I believe that this algorithm needed a bit more than usual (different set of algo between the 2x4 and 2x4HD). You meant 15mS right? Not 15sec attack.

Anyway, will ask engineers to see what's the reason..

using ADI's sigma studio with their "canned" modules, the lower limit is 1msec

I also run into problems according this high minimum attack time. The compressor compressed only the second bassdrum fully or produces clipping at the first.

Please implment minimum attack time of 1 ms in the miniDSP 2x4 HD.

Please give us quicker attack time! Compression is essential to 80% of my TV audio (news and podcasts). Technically I wouldn't need this if you had a maximizer-type feature that could "brick wall" the output.

I stopped using the 2x4HD minidsp due to the absence of an efficient limiter. It is evident that analog devices have limiters embedded in adsp21489 with adequate attack times. Please solve this problem or give us the possibility to use sigmastudio on the hardware!
