I just received a new miniDPS 4x10 Hd and I have downloaded and installed the plug in and the most recent firmware that came with it (v2.7-release, I also tried v2.6). I then configured it using the plug in. The main issue I am having is with configuring the inputs.

In the plug in it will not let me select different digital inputs (TOSLINK, SPDIF...) for different preset configs. For example my TV only has a COAX digital out and my CD player only has a TOSLINK connection. So I what to setup a preset configuration for each input device but the plug in will only let me set either TOSLINK or SPDIF as my digital input and the setting applies to both preset configs. What am I doing wrong?

Also it appears that the unit only uses what ever config I was last in with the plug in and ignores the preset config and input selected via the rotary front panel control in spite of the fact that the front panel LEDs are showing that I have changed these setting. What do I need to do to be able to select inputs and presets using the front panel controls?

In addition it appears that either there is a documentation error or an issue with the way the rotary control is working to select sources and Presets has an issue. The manual shows this as working like this:

default state -> push -> source selection -> select source -> push -> preset selection -> select preset -> push -> default state

But on mine it goes:

default state -> push -> preset selection -> select preset -> push -> source selection -> select source -> push -> default state

In other words it is backwards from what is in the documentation.

The master volume control also does not work although it did initially. Not sure why but this stopped working after "upgrading" the firmware.

I can make the unit change presets and select different inputs if I use the plug in but I have not been able to get the digital audio connection from my TV to work not matter what I do. But I don't know if this is an issue with the TV or with the miniDSP box.

On the other hand the xover functionality appears to be working nicely so the box/software is not totally broken.

Some more info.

I found that if I disconnected the the USB cable and power cycled the unit that the volume control started working.

Yes I know that the only thing that the volume knob does when connected to a PC is change the volume. The issue is that the plug in allows me to change the digital input but it does not appear to change that setting for any presets (IE. make the digital input setting part of the preset).

I would expect it to work like this. In the plug in I should be able to set the Digital input to any value (SPDIF, TOSLINK or AES/EBU) for each preset and each preset digital input setting should be independent from the other presets. When syncing this to the unit these per preset digital input settings should become the default digital input for each preset. Then when I change presets, either in the plug in or via the front panel control, it should automatically change the digital input to the digital input that was configured for that preset but it should allow me to override that with the front panel control.

Also when a preset has the digital inputs muted like when it is setup for an analog source like a tuner it should not light ANY of the digital input source lights since none of these are available for that preset. Instead it needs some way to indicate that it is using an analog input source which it currently does not. Also why can't I select the analog input from the front panel like I can for other inputs? The only way to do this is through the presets. Why does this same logic not apply to the digital inputs? The current UI design is NOT orthogonal - not good but also not a real big issue for me.
