Has anyone tested the various plug-ins on Lion yet?

I'm planning to redo my multisub system in the near future (Advanced 4-way plugin) but I don't want to risk breaking what I've already done and having neither a new system nor my old one!

We have yet to upgrade to OSx Lion to perform test on this platform. But at this point of time, unless Apple changed "again" its USB ktext protocol, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

With this said, not sure when we'll be able to schedule beta testing. If any miniDSP community members already upgraded to OSx Lion and tested it, it would be very valuable to let us know your feedback.

Dear devteam,

My configuration was working fine with a Windows system.

I had the not so good idea to buy a Mac Mini with OSX Lion 10.7.1 and I can't connect anymore the plugin to the MiniDSP Board (message "Can not connect to the system" after 3 retry).

Waiting for the fix ;)

Mikael

I've been running the 2x8 plugin on a 2011 Mac Mini with Lion with no issues.

mikael, which board to you have? I can try a 2x4 with it...

Well, I tried a 2x4 on Lion, with less success... with the 2.1 PEQ plugin v1.02, I was able to connect to the board. However it went into a death loop asking if I wanted to restore the firmware to factory settings. Clicking OK, it seemed to do something but kept coming back with the same question.

So: 2x8/4x10 plugin (latest 1.02 beta) seems OK on Lion. 2x4 plugin (dated Feb this year) seems not.

OK, let me update/correct that. I still had the 2x8 board plugged into the machine, and the 2.1 PEQ plugin was trying to download firmware onto the 2x8 board...

With ONLY the 2x4 miniDSP connected, I simply got a USB timeout error. Unable to connect.

So: 2x8/4x10 plugin (latest 1.02 beta) seems OK on Lion. 2x4 plugin (dated Feb this year) seems not.

Here is my complete config :
-miniDSP Bal/miniDIGI Combo
-MiniDSP Over 4 way advanced release date 17/02/2011
-Mac Mini OSX Lion 10.7.1

The plugin tries to connect three times to the board and abort with the message "
Cannot connect to DSP, please plug in the board" after 3 retries

Guys,

I think that the problem isn't OSx but more the change of CPU of Mac about 1 year ago (switch to i7 and up). Please see the following post: www.minidsp.com/forum/2-announcements/21...macbook-i7-platforms

Please check if you are running some boards purchased earlier than the announcement we made (around Feb2011). Mikael, your unit was purchased Nov2010? We've tested the current firmware on units shipping since Feb2011 (when we've been made aware of the change by Apple OS) and it's working fine on OSx Lion.

You can send you board back to us and we'll flash it with the correct firmware. (need flashing tools not available as software upgrade)

Hoping this info helps

Thank you, that does seem to be the issue. I tried a board purchased more recently in Mar/April this year and it connected without an issue. (I didn't try audio through it but that is not the question here.) I'll send the older 2x4 back for a firmware update - thank you!

FYI my 2011 Mac Mini is an i5.

Using OSX Lion 10.7.2 Lion can see my minidsp, but I can't connect to it.

MiniDSP v1:

Productcode: 0x003f
Fabrikantcode: 0x04d8 (Microchip Technology Inc.)
Versie: 0,02
Snelheid: Maximaal 12 Mb/sec
Fabrikant: DSP4YOU LTD.
Locatiecode: 0x1a120000 / 4
Beschikbare stroom (mA): 500
Vereiste stroom (mA): 100

My firmware version is 0,02, correct?

So I do need to sent my board back to the US ( I'm in Holland ) to correct ( flashing firmware ) the problem, wright??

Thanks in advance,

Peter

Update: Same board is working correctly under Snow Leopard 10.6.2.

Peter,

If in system profile it shows "MiniDSP v1" as the title then it's an old firmware running on it which will not run on OsX Lion. It should be showing "miniDSP v1.2" as the title in the USB-Device tree.

You can indeed return the board back to us (in HK, not US) and we'll flash it with the correct firmware.
