2 options:

I select my mini>"update now">the software shows it installing the update and then takes me back to the "home screen" and the loop starts again.
I select my mini>"decide later">"disconnect">I get multiple pop-up windows showing up until the screen is just black and I have to close the software. Or I choose "restore to default settings"> the software shows the preset values being loaded>I get kicked back to the "home screen" and the loop starts again. Or I click neither and click off the window and get a "critical error">I get kicked back to the "home screen" and the loop starts again.

[Troubleshooting]
Uninstalled all software and reinstalled it.
Booted the mini up while I pressed the reset button.
