When will the new Device Console for the 2x4 HD series be available to try out? I'm getting ready to build out a new system using 3 of these units (already bought! and not my first miniDSP device either, I've used a nanoDIGI for years) and if I'm going to do all that work would rather start with the latest software please and thank you. I'd be interested in beta testing if it's not ready for public release. I'm a product developer / designer by trade and used to working my way through new systems. 

Also, please tell me the Device Console for 2x4HD will offer the same functionality as the existing plugin, especially FIR and Compressor.  I was dissapointed that the FLEX Eight series does not appear to offer FIR on the OUTPUTS of the channels (where I critically need it for properly combining the phase response of multiple drivers), otherwise I would have purchased that instead of multiple 2x4HD's.

I read that there is no current intention to offer the device console for products “near the end of their product life cycle”. the 4X10 HD was discontinued just late last year
so the device console would not be an add on to new sales for it 

But, what about the large, existing user base? I would think that for most of us, the console‘s features wouldn’t be enough to warrant upgrading to a new product. 

I would be prepared to pay something for it. And I expect quite a number of other people would, too.

Or does the 4X10 lack a hardware feature that makes this impossible?

What is it that makes you particularly want to use DC? For me the single biggest improvement will be how future firmware updates are delivered but this will be of much less significance for older products as little is likely to change.

Not thinking it’s a major leap forward, but it does seem an improved interface.

And I’m just a few months away using it for  a crossover on a different 3 way system 

The console has the advantage of being able to handle multiple device types but not sure that there's any functionality advantage beyond that.

@devteam can you please tap in on this post?  Now that device console is available for the 2x4HD, my biggest question remains:

Does the 2x4HD under the new Device Console retain FIR capability? 

The product firmware page ( here ) lists "FIR,IIR, and USB audio" as features under the original plugin but DOES NOT list FIR under the new software.  Considering that this upgrade requires flashing the firmware, this needs to be addressed and clarified.  

Does Device Console for 2x4HD support channel-by-channel FIR in the same way the original plugin does?  Otherwise "upgrading" is a downgrade for me.

I no longer have a 2X4HD as both of mine are upgraded to DDRC spec, but the Device Console allows you to play with "template" devices, presumably (amongst other things) to let you check out functionality on a device you don't own. Looking at my Device Console, the "template" 2X4HD device does indeed support FIR taps per output channel.
 

Thanks! that's a huge help. I installed the console myself and was able to confirm. I didn't think there would be a functionality change but was surprised when the Flex Eight (the evolutionary upgrade to the 2x4HD) only had FIR on the inputs but not the outputs and thought maybe the interface for the console was only set up to accommodate a limited range of possibilities.
