Switching my 2x4HD back from DDRC24 mode

Hi everyone, i hope you can help me:

While experimenting with my 2x4HD I found a button that said switch to DDRC-24/Flex and clicked it. The following prompt just said that my settings will not be carried over but nothing serious like "you wont be able to connect the device with the 2x4HD Plugin anymore", so I confirmed and now I can't connect to via the Plug-In anymore and my 2x4HD is recognized as a DDRC-24 by the computer and the Firmware updater...

After doing some research I have following question:
Is there a way to get it back into 2x4HD Mode without spening 200 Dollars on the DDRC-24 Upgrade? I have no interest in Dirac and that plug-in costs almost as much as the 2x4HD itself.

Update: Reinstalling the Firmware did not help.
