I am considering buying either a SHD or flex with dirac  and would like to understand the requirements those platforms have to continue operating.

Beyond downloading the dirac software, are any servers or cloud services (including licence verification) required on the dirac side?  If dirac were to go out of business the week after i made the purchase, would the software remain functional?

Also for the minidsp platform it's self, is there any requirement or dependency on minidsp servers or service? if minidsp as a company went away would the unit loose any functionality?

in other words, once i have obtained a copy the dirac software matching the embedded licence in the unit, can i run this, re-program dirac with new room correction schemes, change crossover and eq settings and make use of any other features completely isolated form the internet, forever?

Thanks

There are Dirac servers that need to be connected to for licensing. Filters previously uploaded to an SHD/Flex would keep working but you would not be able to replace these with new ones.

There are not miniDSP servers and their products would not cease to function if they went out of business tomorrow. In time there could be issues with operating system updates causing problems though, since at least miniDSP themselves wouldn't be in a position to update the plugin software.
