My laptop crashed and have re-installed WIN10 and minidsp 2x4HD app. Connecting to the DSP, the options are sync and restore. Both seem to erase the DSP current configs. Is there a way to save the current configs onto PC?

At the top left of the 2x4HD software is "File" Under file select "Save" and it will allow you to save the current configuration you have selected. To save all 4 configs you'll have to click on a config and then save it. Just save each config as a different name like config1, config2 etc... Then you can load them back at anytime using load under "File".

Do you mean "recover" the files that are now loaded inside the DSP? If so, I'm afraid that it won't be possible.
You can only go PC to DSP. You can't go DSP back to DSP (i.e. recovering files) I'm afraid.

@devteam: Yes. I'm trying to save xmls from the current filters in my DSP. It appears that's not possible.

I love these boards but this has to be the most frustrating part of it all- not being able to simply pull the settings from a DSP unit. You need the files saved/backed up in order to perform even a simple change. I will, inevitably, lose the ability to update one or all of the DSP settings across my entire home theater system because I know these files will get misplaced/deleted, laptop will crash, or maybe I'll lose track of which laptop/PC... who knows.  lol.  Any number of possible scenarios can and will happen while months and months of tweaking/adjusting gone...poof.  Right click > delete.  Start over!

It would be very useful if we were able to do this - is it something you are able to program into a future version of the various plug-ins?

It would also be very helpful if the name of the file which was last loaded into "Config1", "Config2" etc., could be displayed.

Yes, you can save current configs from board to PC. You can also transfer all your data from the old hard drive to the new one.

I'm 100% sure we can't if the dev himself says it's not possible. That means the conversion from software settings to dsp algorithms on the board is simply a one-way street.

Please give us the instructions to do this, @dennnewt - rather than just saying "yes, it can be done".
