Hi,
I just received the WI-DG to control my 88A
It works as intended, however I could suggest small improvements that are software only.

I'd like to be able to connect the WI-DG to my switched network by RJ45 cable. As far I understood, the RJ45 slot on WI-DG is only here for the setup or for direct connection to computer in AP mode. I'd enjoy to be able to plug that RJ45 to a network switch and that it receive it's IP address by dhcp. I didn't try as the manual don't list this option, but as I see that this WI-DG is a linux (that accept ssh connection to) it should be possible with configuration. And then be able to shut down the wifi interface.

I'd enjoy that the 88A plug in would remember the IP address that I manually enter, because, I think due to my mac OS firewall, auto IP discovery isn't working, so I setup a static IP reservation in my DHCP server for the WI-DG. But every time I launch the 88A plug in, I have to enter again that IP.

And finally, I don't know why, but I struggled to detect my home wifi network when configuring the WI-DG in station mode. I live in a flat with a lot of reachable wifi networks (like 20 or more), but mine is the strongest, still, it took me maybe 15 min of tries, reboot, unplug, change wifi radio range on my wifi access point, and so on before it appears in the detected network list. I dont understand why. My access point in an Apple Airport Extreme and is broadcasting wifi network name, not hiding it.

Txs for reading :)

@xdumont

Not sure to fully understand but it should work perfectly fine to have your WIDG connected via RJ45.
What was the issue you had when you a) connected the WIDG to your LAN with DHCP + router b) Connected to the Wifi of that router (not the WIDG). That's how we use the WIDG in our office. Works perfectly fine...
We're most likely missing something.. :-) Maybe some diagram/screenshots would help.

Hi devteam
the question is, is it possible to use wired LAN connection for WIDG instead of WiFi: connect the WIDG via RJ45 cable / switsch to the LAN with DHCP + router.

Txs in advance for your answer

The WI-DG manual says that Ethernet can only be used for connecting it to a computer, and not routers, hubs, etc. But I don't want to connect it directly to a computer (otherwise, I would just use a USB cable). So, is it possible to connect the WI-DG to a switch? Does it use DHCP?

I have some questions you about WI-DG. How long did it last? When tranfering into another Ip, does it work?

Thanks for sharing and response
