When I first tried to connect to the board using my PC (win7) it would not recognise the MiniDSP. Eventually I got it to connect and all was well.

Today I loaded the software on my laptop (win7) made some changes to the crossover, connected the board & tried to synchronise the board, it recognised the board but eventually came up with a window saying DSP firmware needs to be recovered. Please Restore Factory Settings or close application When I try to restore the factory settings it I just go around in circles and get the same result, Restore factory settings etc.

I have tried rebooting the computer etc. but nothing works, this goes for both of the DSP boards.

I then tried to connect the boards to my PC & now the PC doesn't recognise they are there.

David,

Please clarify the system you're talking about. How many boards stacked, what configuration... (please understand that there isn't a single unique system.. :-)

If you're using a miniDSP + miniDIGI, a simple incorrect jumper setting on the MCLK could be the cause.
Please use the 2way Jumper chart to make sure that your miniDSP and miniDIGI are correctly configured.
e.g. a miniDSP without a correct jumper would easily lock up with this message and the LED not blink anymore.

Hope this info helps, but unfortunately, we'll need more info on what can be the cause.

I am just connecting the MiniDSP stand alone directly to the PC, I have solved the problem with the laptop but with the PC when I try & synchronise the software cannot find the board, its like its not plugged in.

thanks David

Also, the light flashes quickly on the DSP, but the one connected to the laptop (which is working) flashes slowly? Ok well the light flashes slowly when you change the Master Slave jumper but it still wont connect?

David,

1) If you're connecting to the miniDSP standalone, make sure that the MCLK jumper is in the correct position. Jumping from a stacked to standalone configuration requires reconfiguring the MCLK jumper on the miniDSP.

2) For the laptop/PC issue, a bit confused as from reading your first post, it sounds like PC wasn't able to connect, laptop was. Is it the opposite now? Please clarify as we can't really see the link here...
Before going further, please make sure that you installed all software as per manual and email we sent (i.e. net 3.5, Flash 10 or up, Adobe Air). Any of these 3 missing will create an issue.

3) Finally, we've tested the platfom on Win7 Ultimate without any issues many times over here (so did other users). Maybe something else is going on on yours? You can always try the WinXP mode as a test.

Hope this helps,

What position should the jumper be in as MiniDSP stand alone?

2) The laptop appears to be working fine now.

3) The PC was working, now its not? I plug the board in & try to synchronise & your software doesn't think the board is plugged into the computer.

Thanks David

Problem solved, I pressed the reset button on the board & it now is seen by the software on my PC.

Should you always press the reset if the jumpers are changed? i.e. moving from stand alone to MiniDSP/Digi combo?

Glad it's working again.
Most likely, this symptom may have happened as you may have either disconnected the boards with the USB still plugged in (i.e. power to the device) or maybe tried to run the device with incorrect jumper.

If you disconnect properly, you indeed shouldn't have to reset the board as you did..

Anyway, in the end, it's working! :-)

Have fun,
