I am sure the 10x10HD used to be able to be loaded with a 96kHz plug-in ... as well as 48kHz.

However, looking at the 10x10 plug-in under "Audio Plug-ins" ... the text (and on the Data Sheet) now only says 48kHz.

Is there no longer a 96kHz plug-in for the 10x10HD?

Thanks,
Andy

I emailed the Dev Team and they solved my problem. :)

The plugin I need to use is here: “www.minidsp.com/products/plugins/4×10-plug-in-detail”.

So, yes, a 96kHz solution is available for the 10x10HD ... when I move to digital in (instead of 4x analogue in which I have at present).

Is there no plugin that can run all 10 inputs of the 10x10hd at 96kHz.

I'm pretty sure the answer is 'No'. But all you need to do(to use the 96kHz plugin) is use the digital input of the miniDSP 10x10HD! :)

I moved to using the digital input of my miniDSP 10x10HD (instead of 4x analogue inputs), so I could use the 96kHz plug-in. I have 3 digital inputs (CDP, DAB+ tuner and TV set-top box) so I just had to buy an A2D converter for my phono stage - plus a 4-way digital input selector switch. It works brilliantly - and sounds better. :)

Now I'm waiting for a 192kHz version of a miniDSP to come out, which offers:
* a digital input
* 8x analogue outputs, and
* a digital output.

:cheer:

I already use the digital input line[ toslink] and 4 analog input and route [just all mixed in together] in the plugin.
I also use 5 analog outputs for my stereo setup.
I would need to convert my analog lines to digital, and get a digital switch to get it working similar to yours.
Or alternately, a 10x10 96khz plugin becomes available. the latter is cleaner and more cost effective.
Im hoping minidsp can provide this plugin similar to that for the 2x4hd hardware.

AIUI, to provide 96kHz for all 10 inputs requires more processing power than the hardware in the 10x10HD provides.

So miniDSP will have to come out with an up-specced replacement, for it to be able to run 10 inputs @ 96kHz.

Andy's answer is already correct. The 10x10 won't be able to support 10ch @ 96k, You'd be talking of double the amount of processing required. I'm afraid that it's above the resources of the processor.

I am also in doubt to buy a 2x4 HD or 10x10 HD . I would use the digital in, and use 6 outs in a stereo setup.

2 outs for the subs (this can be in 48Hz as I understood the 96Hz is not good below 30Hz)
4 outs for the speakers, as I will be bi-amping them. This I would like to do in 96Hz for sound quality.

Is this possible? Or would I be better of using a 2x4HD and use a splitter to simply divide the signal over the bi-amping for the speakers?

the 2x4HD has a stronger processor and more EQ points for the subs, but 5 EQ is plenty for me. Just to clarify, a highpass and low pass does not count as a 'EQ point' right? I would do a highpass, 5 EQ points and a low pass. For the speakers, as I bi-amp them, it's fine because I will have 10EQ points in total per speaker anyway.

A linkwitz transform counts as 1 EQ point? linkwitz transform is equally good in 2x4 HD or 10x10HD?

I now use the digital in and the 8 analogue outs, with my 10x10HD. This enables me to run it at 96kHz.

Where do you get this theory from (that '96kHz is not good below 30Hz')?

Is this possible?

Not with a 10x10HD - either it runs at 48kHz ... or 96kHz.

Yes, the HP & LP filters are not counted in the PEQs.

Thanks for the clear reply. Meanwhile I purchased the 10x10 and can't wait to receive it.

I based it on this long topic
www.minidsp.com/forum/software-support/2...ncy-ranges?start=120
And this review
diygeezer.com/minidsp-4x10-hd-review/

The highpass on my subs will be around 20Hz. They have a high excursion and are in a passive radiator setup, I will need to be certain about my filters and eq to prevent botomming out my drivers before and after the tuning frequency of the passive radiator.

Would prefer off course the 96khz option. Will use digital in and balanced outs for optimal signal quality.

Very interesting information - thank you for posting the links.

I think you mean the low pass on your subs will be 20Hz? :)

Yes, that puts you well into the instability region. :( So you would need to use a 24dB slope - or even less.

It's also remarkably low - by comparison, my 15" sealed subs are currently rolled off @ 80Hz. Do your main speakers go down to 20Hz - if not, your sub LP filter should be set higher, to match their low end roll-off.

I want to know if the use of the plug in listed 4 x 10 which shows up as 2x8 will solve an issue that i seem to have .

I am using a DDRC 22D connected to a digital source to run DIRAC Live and then out put from AES / EBU a digital DIRAC filtered digital stream to a miniDSP 10 x 10 . I want to then use the the 10 X 10 to split the signal across two three way speakers with each left and right digital channel out putting to three analogue outputs each for bass/mid/treble. At present there is a digital signal showing on the DDRC 22D but there is no sound coming out of the speakers . I think the issue is that the DDRC 22D only outputs a 96Hz / 24bit signal and that as the input of the 10 x 10 is only 48Hz / 24 bit it is not accepting the incoming digital signal . Will the use of this plug allow the 10 x 10 to accept the 96hz/24 bit input and then output analogue to the six outputs ? Any help would be appreciated as this system worked as a 2/12 way with a miniDSP DDRC 24 but I am not able to get any sound out from the current layout .

I think you have certainly identified a problem with your current setup - which may bell be the cause of you not getting any sound; this is the fact that the DDRC 22D is outputting a 96Hz signal and your 10x10HD is running at 48kHz.

So if you use the 2x8 plug-in in your 10x10HD ... you should get sound.

Unless, of course, you have:
* either your routing messed up
* or 'Mutes' accidentally engaged.

Right I did a complete unit by unit and wire by wire break down of my set up . Then one unit at a time put it back in place and double checked each connection . Being sure the volume on everything was turned down I turned it on and just started Radio Paradise and gently moved the volume up . Result brilliant I had music and it was coming from all six drivers .

The sound was okay but as this was just flat no filters in place quite thin . No problem with that it was a start . Now run a full DIRAC Live session tight for a single seat . Saved the settings to the DDRC 22D and result swathes of music running out in to the room . The sound is shocking as I had previously thought the active two way was good now we have something very different . Voices are natural and rock solidly placed , instruments have definition and a sound stage in which to play in . Then there is the bass easy to hear and a very seperate instrument when a really deep bass is present it is now much more controlled and textured good example is Autobahn by Kraftwerk the truck moving across the sound stage now has real rumbling sounds and when the synth bass starts it really stands out . So a rocky and frustrating start but worth the wait for the end results . Set the Low bass at 250Hz and will keep this for a while but at some stage will try a few different settings to see if it makes much difference and which cr point I like the best .

So what was the problem, previously (that led to zilch sound)?
