Any way to load the settings *from* the miniDSP? 6 years 6 months ago #23256

So I'm using the 4 way advanced plugin for miniDSP. One thing that really annoys me is that when I connect the miniDSP to a computer, it synchronizes to the setting on the miniDSP program on the particular OS I'm running (I have it on my OS X, Windows bootcamp, and 2 other desktop computers). Therefore I often lose the settings on the board when I connect. Is there any way to just load the settings from the board?

Thanks

No I don't think so - the only unit that does that (that I know of) is the PWR-ICE amps.

John is indeed correct. No way to "Recover" the settings from a unit I'm afraid unless it's a PWR-ICE series (IP based structure).

Hi Mate,

After making any changes in the MiniDSP plug-in, make sure you save the configuration file (under the system tab) and every time you synchronize to the DSP make sure you load the same .XML save file before you hit the Sync button.

Only thing I found last time (yesterday) was my PQ filters were all screwy when I opened the save file again, so next time I will be keeping a record in Excel of all the EQ settings so i'll check the EQ out before hitting Sync button, re-enter the values if need be.

Cheers
James

I have three different computers I use to communicate with miniDSP units.
I found this aspect frustrating at first, but I adopted a procedure to save files (when finished editing) to a USB stick which moves between the computers as I do. :)
You should also formulate a solid file naming convention that eliminates possible confusion. :)

Dave.

Good suggestion, the naming convention I use is the name of the DSP and then the date. I.e.

Midrange Tweeter 20160218
Subwoofer Midbass 20160217

Sorry for digging up this topic but maybe something has changed on that matter.

I've got a miniDSP 10x10 HD but don't use Windows/MacOS therefore I had borrowed a Windows computed to set it up, did the room measurements, etc. then uploaded the config to the miniDSP.

Fast forward to now, I have no access to that computer anymore but need to make slight changes to the config.
If there still no way to recover a config from a miniDSP ?

btw I'm ok with lengthy procedures to recover the config from the DSP as it will still beat a full day of measurements/corrections all over again.

I don't believe anything has changed and I also think I've seen miniDSP staff post that it is impossible for them to do so. I'm obviously very open to @devteam correcting me though  .

Provided you've got the measurents saved there is no need to repeat them though?

Thanks for the answer.

Yes I do have the measurements but it's kind of a mess.
The 10x10HD is used to feed a CT4150 and CT8150 that cover a whole house. With corrections per room, some input/output routing for multiples sources (Bluetooth, etc.), external DACs on optical outputs, modes that cut of certain rooms. Measurements only cover part of the settings and getting everything back in order would be a pain.

Luckily, I just found an email where I sent the settings to myself :)

Is there a plan by the minidsp devteam to create a tool to allow users the reading of the existing configuration set in the minidsp 2x4hd ?
