True. So no one expects minidsp to extend beyond 2mins on time but they could allow users to have a dimmer display and to reduce the on time. 2mins is far too long if you only need the display on to check volume and preset.

Yes, exactly.

If they are forcing the display to turn off, that’s one thing. But to do that AND force us to have it on for two minutes at full brightness at every nudge of the volume is just crazy. If we want it to turn off faster — anywhere from 3 seconds to 2 minutes — that only helps preserve the OLED! If we want to run it at a dimmed setting during the time it’s on, that only helps too!

This is what have stopped me from upgrading two MiniDSPs to Device Console. A feature that was present on old firmware ? Come on I do work on software development on embedded devices so port that feature to the new Device Console shouldn't be so hard. I doubt MiniDSP wants to become rich with OLED displays

BTW the new Device Console is based on Electron   I cannot understand why use JavaScript for an app like this. Basically a Web browser + JavaScript to comunicate with a DSP

Good news! I got an email from the dev team about the display adjustability and they said, there is a plan for this to be implemented into the Device Console.

That would be great. I am really looking forward to this. Did they give a time estimation?

They said, in the next build, but didn't give estimated time.

I emailed them about it the other month and I got the impression enough people had asked for alterations that they were indeed looking at it but they were non-commital so I didn't like to say anything here. Great they're being more definitive about it now. Looking forward to using Device Console when the display amendment is made.

I bought a used minidsp shd and I find the brightness too low. Is there a way to change it?
I'm using Device Console and cant find a brightness setting. I wonder if the previous owner changed it in previous software version.

Thanks!

Two minutes auto-off and no brightness control.

Any news on display settings in the Device Console?

Edit: Sorry, I see it in the changelog!

My question is: does the red LED on the front panel still turn on when the display is off but the unit is powered on? Before Device Console that red LED was only ever on when the whole thing was turned off.

Ugh. That is extremely annoying. Knowing at a glance whether the whole unit was turned off was the whole purpose of that LED. Now it’s completely meaningless.

Like, thanks miniDSP for a red light that tells me whether the screen is off. That’s is so helpful. I would never have known the screen was off until I noticed there’s a red LED that’s on.

But with the screen off you don't know if the unit is off or on.
Unless you look at the LED, so it is useful for that.

That’s how things USED to work.

Now, under Device Console, like before, if the unit is off and the display is off, the red LED is on. BUT ALSO, if the unit is on and the LED is timed out, the red LED turns on. They just went and broke the whole red LED thing and have left it that way without explanation for 9 months.
