My latest small home theater configuration (see attached image):

Pretty simple setup:
  • Apple TV as single streaming input connect by HDMI to...
  • Insignia HDMI audio extractor (set to 2 channel stereo), connected to ...
  • LG TV via what should be pass through HDMI and
  • miniDSP SHD Power by optical, which in turn powers ...
  • a pair of DML speakers.
I previously had the TV optical out connected to the SHD Power, but then something seemed to awry with some of the audio of some streams.

The setup works, BUT it requires 3 remote controls to operate.
One for the SHD Power, one for the Apple TV, and one for the LG TV.

Needless to say, this drives the family to distraction (not to mention me).

So, the simple question, does a way exist to consolidate the remotes into a single remote?

I've tried to run down ways to use a universal or learning remote, but apparently some of the earlier offerings aren't available anymore.

I know I might be above to do this by replacing the HDMI audio extractor with an A/V pre-processor, but this seems like a lot of money to spend to achieve this (and I don't really need all the other functionality the A/V pre-processor has.)

Thoughts appreciated.
