- Volume control update for new Volumio build 1.94. This update is required when updating to Volumio 1.94 as it modifies volume control format for Roon compliance (pending final certification).

Is it safe to upgrade the firmware in advance without upgrading volumio now?

When will Volumio 1.94 be available? Or will it only be offered for upgrading after updating the firmware?

Volumio 1.094 is already available but prompts you to update to this firmware version first.

Is there a changelog for volumio somewhere?

I have found the following, but the version number is far ahead to 1.94.

I'm unable to see the new Volumio version when I click "Check Updates" on my SHD Studio. It shows I'm running System Version :1.073. I have just loaded FW 1.29.

Is there some other method I'm supposed to use to see the Volumio update?

If "Check Updates" doesn't show it, its probably not available yet for your hardware.

Is there any timeline for when the new version will come? Since updating to the new SHD Studio FW, the volume control in Volumio no longer works.

Maybe you can downgrade to the last working firmware again until the volumio update is available?

And did you turn off and on the SHD once after the upgrade?

I had the issue (with the older SHD hardware) after upgrading both, SHD and volumio, that the volume control did not work from upnp control apps anymore. The apps always did show 100. And when trying to change the volume it did jump to -1.5db. After turning it off and on again, it works fine now.

I just tried a power cycle (including pulling the plug) and the behaviour is the same. Mute/unmute work, but volume level changes do not. From the sounds of the firmware updates this seems reasonable to expect that there isn't backwards compatibility with the older Volumio.

I don't use the volume control often, if at all, so I'll stay where I'm at firmware-wise. Other SHD Studio owners may want to hold off until the new Volumio update is released for the SHD Studio.

Ah, thank you. That explains it:
We expect Volumio v1.94 to be available in the coming 24h on the Volumio servers and note that it is at this time for Neo2 build only (Black USB host connector/SHD unit purchased before Jan 2021). See below for Neo3 builds.

Still no ETA there, but no suggestion it's too far off either.
