Anyone else finding that the SHD remote is a bit random?

On mine it works properly sometimes. But other times, the volume up button changes input (same on the harmony remote - so not me being clumsy with the buttons).

Last night the up volume was turning it down.

A bit frustrating!

Yes, I've had this including a few days ago after a long period of no weird behaviour. Mainly volume down ends up doing volume up on the SHD which starts to enter dangerous territory if it's already loud.

Glad it's happened to someone else. I raised it with support and they said "we test every unit before we ship" but that only addresses whether it works, not intermittent incorrect function. They also said to try it with a universal remote but it's such a rare occurrence I haven't bothered with that.

The fact that I recently noticed it again after a break got me thinking. It's now summer in Australia so I wonder whether it's temperature affecting the remote?

The only time I've experienced erratic behaviour from my remote control it was solved by replacing the batteries. Try this.

I dont think it is the batteries as it happens with the Harmony universal remote as well. It's like the SHD gets confused ??

If it happens is the input changed randomly or does the SHD switch always to the same input? If it always does switch to LAN I would guess that it could have to do with the automatic switching to LAN when streaming something? Does it make a difference if the playlist is empty, so nothing is there for streaming?

I had this issue with my SHD Studio now, too, for the first time I think. Turned on the TV. Switched from LAN to toslink. Turned off the volume on the TV. Turned the SHD louder. Then the SHD did switch over to USB. So maybe it does not like a little hectic switchting or the TV remote had an effect.

My TV was causing issues with the remote. It's an older LCD TV. I found that turning off the power saving functions and keeping the backlight turned up to at least 70% stops the issue from occurring.

I also noted that the remote put the SHD to stand-by when switching inputs, and some other mishaps...
Powering the unit down and up solved the problems..... But for a unit at that price-range it should not happen....

Sometimes it changes input but more frequently the volume up and the volume up both reduce the volume. The TV isn't in the same room so I don't think it's that

Very similar issues. And i too do not have a TV or any other device in same room as the SHD studio.
The remote seems sticky. Sometimes the last accepted function gets repeated no matter what key i press on the remote.

can you test with another remote? use the learn function in the plugin to make (almost) any remote work with the SHD

Finally! I'm not crazy! My remote has been annoying the hell out of me.

To answer some people's questions: this is definitely not about battery life or interference from TVs.

In my case, my remote sometimes repeats the function I last selected no matter the button I press next. So if I turn it up really loud, then go to turn it down, then it turns it up even further. In other cases, I select the input I want, then I go to change the volume up or down and instead it changes the input again. You get the idea.

This ALSO happens with my Harmony 350 remote with the SHD programming, so it's not just my factory remote. Perhaps not as much with the Harmony as the factory, but still there and I have to be careful when pushing the speakers into loud territory.

This is a hardware problem of some sort. Not that I expect miniDSP to acknowledge this or do a damn thing about it.

It happens with any remote. Seems to be an issue on the receiver side or the micro/logic that interprets the commands.
I was planning to use my shd studio as a preamp but that’s not possible without reliable remote for volume and input switching.
I hope some users or dev team can provide directions on what theavailable next steps are to resolve.

Have you contacted miniDSP Support?
