Hello, I've a little Problem, but I can find no answer in the www, possibly my Englisch is worse or I use the false input questions. Hope it's not 20 times answered here in the forum, in the paar. OK..
I think I ordered the wrong system for my needs.
A "Minidsp Shd" was delivered today. I wanted to linearize the left and right speakers and the LFE channel of my 11.1 channel Dolby Atmos system because Dirac works better than YPAO from Yamaha. Now I see there is only one subwoofer possible and only generating from the stereo channel. Of course, this is not good for my application. Now I've thought about linearizing at least the left and right speakers. So xlr analog out of the Yamaha receiver, into the "Minidsp Shd" analog in, from there into my power amplifier for the left and right front speakers. After that, a Dirac correction and then re-calibrate (or correct)again with YPAO from Yamaha, to have all channels included and relative corrected to the Front Channels. Possibly Yamaha preset "Front", what means that all other channels are tuned to the RAW front speakers. (Not really RAW,because Dirac from Mini DSP)
Volume and sound programs should continue to be done by Yamaha.

Is that possible or will 2 corrections make everything worse? Can the Yamaha handle the latency times of the "Minidsp" or is everything not ok afterwards?
I will send a sketch with the planned position. Why I thought the SHD is ok, is, because I have most in XLR and the tact rate of the SHD is higher as in the small Minidsp. But I did a big mistake because I didnt realise that there isnt a LFE correction possible. Best regards Markus

You can connect the subwoofer to the SHD. So you have front left, front right and the subwoofer connected to the SHD. The SHD has 4 outputs, so this will fit. If the subwoofer only offers a mono input you can (if I do not get it wrong) connect both dirac channels (left and right) to the same output, e.g. output 3.

Yes,it is true,that it is possible to connect a subwoofer as a mix from mean channels.
But in an homecinema arrangement it is the false was.
It is the LFE channel for deep frequency support of effects needed. And a mix from left and right to a woofer is interesting if the mean speaker are reaching not deep enough . In a 2.1 for music it is good. But for home cinema it will not work in this way. Interesting would be, if the delay will bring problems or the double d/a to a/d to d/a convertation.

Ok, I do not have any experience with AV-Sound and the LFE channel.

Regarding the delay: I do not think that the da-ad-da-conversion will make a big delay. More likely it is the dirac-filtering. But AFAIK dirac does not use FLIR filtering but only IIR. FLIR produces a bigger delay, but IIR does not. But I am not sure with this. So maybe someone else can help out here?
