What you are using is the Roon Bridge plugin which is an ALSA endpoint. As you have shown, to control volume in Roon you must use DSP volume control. I'm not here to argue which method for using Roon with the SHD is better or to point fingers at either company. I have been asking for updates on the Roon forum as well. Please don't derail this topic by discussing the Volumio Roon Bridge plugin functionality, this thread is about Roon Ready certification.
 We're talking about the topic of using Roon with the SHD, right? So I don't think I'm going off the rails by explaining how I use Roon ... And for the use of volume, it was just to show that it is possible .... personally I use it in fixed volume ... . not really understand the problem ... whether I use my Metrum Amber (which is Roon certified) or that I use the SHD with the Volumio pluggin ... I have the same sound ... so for me everything is fine!

We are all talking about Roon endpoint streaming certification. You are off topic.
Volume was also off topic (by the way I had big problems with volume controlled by the remote Roon client with MIniDSP SHD Studio - maybe related to the fact that is not certified/still having some issues - nearly almost blown my speakers a couple of times).

 Sorry if i'm off topic... what does Roon certification really mean?
I have several devices that use Roon, and I don't really understand the difference (in use) between Roon Certified, Roon Ready .... most of my devices display Alsa under their names ... what?
On the other hand I just saw that I also have the possibility in the settings Roon, to activate "MiniDSP Asio Driver" ... what is it also?

Follow these threads. It has links to all information regarding our topic here and some related to your questions:

ASIO is the windows driver. The fact that Roon supports ASIO does not mean Roon has a certification for your device.

I must say ROON response was quick. They have enabled SHD by making me a "developer." Now my SHD works flawlessly as a ROON endpoint! Looking forward to them certifying miniDSP devices so that orange label "uncertified" disappears altogether.

Wait, what? We can contact ROON to have them enable our SHDs on their end?

From that link:

What does this all mean for me?
Existing Roon accounts using uncertified devices as of September 21 can request to keep all access to their currently owned uncertified Roon Ready devices before September 21st. Once access is granted, they will see no changes to their access or ability to enable/disable those devices.
All other Roon accounts will no longer be able to enable uncertified Roon Ready devices on/after September 21st.

Seems like this was something we had to do before 9/21? Will this work now?
