I for one am happy for the continuing development. Keep up the good work!

I will be happy upon the completion of Roon Ready support as the current native Roon Bridge has issues when directly compared to the Roon Bridge (new hardware and Volumio 1.073) running on a RPI3 connected via USB.

Hi Rich,

What are the issues exactly? I have heard this in other posts but haven't seen specifics.

Thank you!

The new NEO3 SHD hardware playback via LAN/Roon has click and pops when playing streams great than 44.1 kHz /16 bits. I found that anything above 44.1 kHz has click and pops using the built-in SHD Roon Bridge interface.
@Sonnie reported that anything with 24 bits or above 44.1 kHz has clicks and pops using the Roon Ready support.

This affects on the new hardware with latest Volumio and firmware loaded.

New firmware update description hints that Roon Certification is getting closer.

- Volume control update for new Volumio build 1.94. This update is required when updating to Volumio 1.94 as it modifies volume control format for Roon compliance (pending final certification).

Interesting that the message you get in Volumio when checking system status - says to upgrade firmware - but also mentions "complete Roon synchronisation". Would be interesting to know what this means?

New firmware is certainly a step forward. Roon now recognises the SHD as a device and can see through to which output it is using.

Did take me a few minutes to work out the order to do all the upgrades to get them to work.

:) Hello everyone ... I downloaded the latest version of MiniDSP SHD and then upgraded Volumio ...
I just have a problem, even when downloading the latest version from the site, the firmware is 1.19 while I did download 1.29 ???
The SHD is now 1.15 firmware 1.19, while on the site this version does not exist !!! would it be a clerical error?
this is what I get now with Roon:

After update of both firmware and system software the volume numerical value on the SHD display is now the same as shown/set in Roon. Nice!

The SHD remote still cannot resume playing Roon music by pressing the play/pause center button after pausing. Would still like to see that implemented.

The SHD still is shown as uncertified in Roon, apparently pending final certification.

I updated the XMOS firmware but Volumio still shows 1.073 and no updates available for the neo3 hardware,

Hi all. I’m new to Roon and just trying it out on my SHD. I know SHD still awaiting full Roon certification but I’m using Roon Bridge plug-in with Volumio for now. Can I ask if this should support hires bitrates on something like Qobuz? Hires tracks are showing that they're being sampled down to CD quality - is this a limitation of Roon Bridge /SHD at the moment?

B) No this is not normal ..... all hi-res files are read by Roon on the SHD ....
Roon works flawlessly with the Volumio plugin . ;)

High-bit rate has click/pop issues with the Volumio Roon Bridge on the January NEO3 hardware.

Ah ok. I can see several instances of the SHD in the Roon audio setup (inc the not yet ready ‘Roon ready’ uncertified device). I think I enabled the Airplay SHD bit, which would account for hi res tracks being converted to CD bitrates. I can stream HD tracks fine via the SHD USB input from my Roon core computer by enabling the ‘core audio’ setup.

However I want to stream hires via the SHD Ethernet network directly. Roon audio setup also shows 2 extra SHD devices - SHD i2s ALSA and SHD SPDIF ALSA, both displaying the correct ip addresses. However, I can’t seem to get any audio out of these after activating them. I’ve been through lots of combinations of audio setups for volume etc, but no luck. Everything looks like it’s working, but I can’t hear any sound by switching to these.

Do you have your SHD source set to LAN?

Yep. Tried all sources and combinations. It’s just those two SHD audio profiles (i2s and spdif) that show up in the Roon audio settings that don’t seem to ‘work’. The other SHD ones like airplay and usb core work ok. The SHD is connected to the lan via Ethernet cable, and the Roon core laptop is connected wirelessly to same network. Shouldn’t matter though? The Roon signal path shows the complete chain going to the outputs using RAAT, it’s just that I can’t hear anything, so not sure what’s happening. This is all new to me though.
