As an owner of SHD Studio as my primary USB source, this concernes me indeed. But I believe in Minidsp and they know what's on the line of Roon goes away for them. Customer will go away from Minidsp and you know what that means.

I am a little surprised that Minidsp hasn't messaged their SHD users, but I still have faith that they have a plan. Hopefully not just wishful thinking.

This is a big deal and a very short timeline. Can we get any word from miniDSP on this?

I too am dissatisfied with this pending fiasco. What happened to SHD's apparently valid Roon certification earlier this year?

This situation REALY needs full attention from MiniDSP.. --This is bad!--

Does anyone know whether this will also affect the (old, 16-bit) universal Volumio-plugin )?

Does anyone know whether an exactly cloned-backup of the hard drive containing a currently SHD-activated Roon-server could be expected to provide full security against any accidental device-deactivation, or against hardware / software-failures, viruses, etc leading to future reactivation needs? (This question should of course also be forwarded to the Roon-support, but they naturally have their own interests and agendas in this, which are not necessarily in line with the SHD-owner's best interests..... :/ )

Wow this is a big deal. I purchased the SHD in the vision that I would eventually move to ROON. This changes that entirely and now I am feeling like I may have been burnt. The SHD was advertised for use with ROON. Now between when I ordered it and its arrival it has become not roon ready. This really is not good.

+1 from here as well. It is time we got straight answers from miniDSP and / or Roon on where the specific delay/barrier is.

I do have to note that the last direct question to the miniDSP Devs on this wasn't answered . . not sure what to read into that but we will draw our own conclusions I guess: www.minidsp.com/forum/shd-series/17307-roon-cerification#48726

And if there are specific impediments from Roon - let us know mini-DSP. I note from other discussions that NAD M10 (also Dirac certified) is in the same boat. Are we caught in some other turf war here?

As an SHD studio owner I would also appreciate an answer from MiniDSP on this issue.

Now I notice something interesting ... actually nowhere on the website or in the manual stays that SHD is roon ready. MiniDSP dont sell it like a roon ready product.

and then comes additionally, to re-state what Roon announced:
"This is only about manufacturers who licensed the Roon Ready SDK from us commercially, then violated our license by skipping the Roon Ready certification process. It’s not very many manufacturers. We began communicating with manufacturers about this in 2018 . They have had ample warning to sort things out."

Sooo ... could it be, that SHDs are not affected

My assumption is that since it says "roon ready" in the audio setup in the Roon software, Minidsp must have used the SDK, but not got the full certification.

If they never got the SDK, they would not be able to use the RAAT protocol, which it is using from what i can tell.
