Hey all,
So I inherited a Surface Go a while back that I basically never use. I'm also very, very seriously considering the SHD. However, it is requiring a re-think as to how I listen to music. I've been streaming from Android or Chrome for a long time now. I have some files somewhere, but I don't know where. Probably on the broken hard drive that is still sitting in my computer, disconnected. I recently switched to Tidal and their Windows App, but I'm not going to want to run my main computer into the SHD (permanently, setup would be fine).

I was wondering if installing everything on a Surface Go would be viable? It would be a touch screen interface, have the Tidal App, have browsers for the SHD services, and USB connections with a USB hub (from type C) for the UMIK and for the SHD USB input. I could set it up on the shelf with the SHD and Benchmark amp in a 4U rack. I could even control it with a remote desktop connection from my phone or PC.

Does anyone see any potential problems with this setup? The more I think about it the more it seems to good to be true.

Neat idea! The CPU in those is not exactly a screamer but I would imagine it's fine for those tasks. My understanding is it has Windows 10 S which is hobbled to apps from the MS app store but it seems there is a way to get out of "S mode" -

If it were me, I'd try the above, load up the apps and test with a USB DAC, remote desktop etc. If that all works then it's hard to see that there'd be any problems.
