Dear all,

I have a MiniDSP 2x4HD, and facing some issues with synchronization. I need a delay round about 600 ms between the outputs 1 / 2 and 3 / 4, but the device does not allow me to go further than for 80 ms; I wonder, is there a possibility to create additional delay in RePhase for FIR deliberately? Would be appreciated for any ideas, thanks!

600 ms seems a very long delay to me...are you sure you need it that big? If so, why? 80 is actually more than enough for most purposes.

Hi! Thank you for the reply! I need such a delay because I use outputs 3 & 4 to feed an audio Wi-Fi Transmitter, which is supposed to work for the whole two-storey
building and many zones. Unfortunately there's no any possibility to physically run any cables. No problems for the ground floor, where you cannot hear the reference signal from 1 / 2 outputs, but for the first floor and rooftop there is a problem

600ms of delay at 96kHz does require 57600 taps per channel, which is far beyond what the 2x4HD can handle.

Speed of sound is 343 m/s, so a 600ms delay represents a distance of about 200 metres...? That's a big building!

I think the delay could be caused not by physical distance, but by some restrictions of Wi - Fi protocol, etc., etc. Anyways, it's here

Thank you for your reply 🙏 You think I cannot overcome the issue having this device in hands? 🙏

I take it the issue is you want the same music playing simultaneously in both locations and in sync? If you really want to achieve this then one way would be to add in a second audio WiFi transmitter to the ground floor system purely to introduce the same delay. There are some studio products I'm aware of that allow large variable delays to be applied but these will cost considerably more. I don't believe any miniDSP product will do what you want.

IIRC a DCX2496 can do long delays

Thanks for replies! Yes, sure they're many of devices on the market that could provide such a delay, but I am very happy with the sound of MiniDSP 2x4HD as a USB streamer, introducing additional devices to the chain would be a quality downgrade, so if there a possibility to create a delay with internal FIR would be awesome

Note that @pos has already explained above that this is not possible.

Xillica can do the longest delays that I have found..

Needed one for a cathedral install I did years ago for 200’ to synch the front choir to the organist in the choir loft iirc….
