Hi all,

I'm considering using a PWR-16 + DDRC-88A as a multizone setup. Source will be 2 x Sonos Connect.
Since Sonos does not have trigger voltage or similar I want to use the signal sense on pwr-16 to start up the amplifier as soon as music is detected. (ddrc-88A will be always on I guess :-( )

So after reading the manual you need to split RCA cable and connect it to Phoenix input 1+2 (right signal + ground)
Hmmm but then the amp will only start up when using source 1. What to do if I want to listen to source 2?
If I connect the "right" signals + ground from source 1 and 2, It will get messy (since the audio signal will copy itself to the other source and switch on the amplifier, but only right channel, and when both are on, you get mixed music, right channel only)

I thought about using a Diode to cover this and block the signal so it does not get to the other inputs, but I'm not sure if that is going to work out fine with distortions etc.

How can use the Music sense option for my second source. Most amps with multiple inputs have a switch where you can set options for each source (Sense/trigger/always on)

Can you help me out with this or is there a fix to use extra Phoenix inputs to connect my 2nd source signal to?

Looking forward to your reply!

Herbert

@Herbert

The PWR16 actually does have these 3 modes (Sense/trigger/always on) but it's for all channels. :-)
I guess that there are 2 options here:
- Either keep the amp always on (no trigger/no sense)
- Using maybe a little external mixer (e.g. using some resistor setup) doing 2x1 mix? (Left source 1 + Left Source2)

Just a thought.
