Hello all, I'm new to miniDSP and these forums.

I am considering going DIY for an upcoming home theater and I would love to use PWR-ICE amps for my LCR speakers in order to take advantage of the X-Over, EQ, limiting, etc. However, I would really like to have auto On/Off capabilities. Looking at the specs and manuals for the PWR-ICE speakers I see no information about Auto On/Off even though this seems to me like an obvious feature to include in a digitally-controlled plate amplifier.

I have three questions for you fine folks:

1) Do the PWR-ICE amps include any kind of signal sensing/Auto On-Off feature?

2) If they do not have this feature, would it be harmful at all to these amps if I left them in the ON position and simply turned them on/off by using the power switch on a power strip? This would allow me to turn all 3 speakers on and off using a single easily-accessed switch rather than having to access the amp on each individual speaker.

3) What is power consumption from the outlet when these amps are on but not currently receiving a signal? If they do not draw much power then I suppose I could just leave them on permanently.

Many thanks to anyone who can chime in!

They've mentioned in some other threads that it's on their to do list. As for using a strip, that's what I do with mine (and the DDRC-22D that feeds them). No issues so far, and no thump either.

Thanks alot for getting back to me. Good to know about the lack of "thump" as the power-strip method is probably what I will end up doing. Cheers.

@ jpcolin

No auto on/off autosensing is implemented I'm afraid.

Thanks for the reply, too bad, this is no go for me then.
Any plans to implement it?
