Hi everyone,

First post. i don't know if i have to introduce myself, but glad to join this community anyway!!
I'm ready to buy one of this really great (it seems!) minisharc.
To improve it and because i need balanced outputs, i would like to go through my RME fire face 400.
few questions : i was thinking to use this to convert i2S to ADAT :http://electronics.dantimax.dk/Kits/Digital_audio/index.html.
Do you think it can do the job ?
Do you think i can use the RME word clock in this case ? (with minisharc slave mode)
about input i just have 1,2 Vcc consumer and 2,6Vcc pro S/Pdif Voltage, do you think it can be enough or i will need a buffer ?
Thank for your advice, i'm a really newbie!
Cheers

It looks as if the dantimax board can do the trick and route the I2S outputs of miniSHARC to the RME ADAT input.

If wordclock can be used depends on how the dantimax board can be set up. Not that much information available
Pro level SPDIF might work. miniSHARC is using 3.3V TTL level. I'd try first

kind regards, Daniel

I will ask the question to dantimax…and as soon as i know i will post the answear. For the S/Pdif, i heard that Devteam was doing a buffer because many people had same kind of S/Pdif problem? do you know something about? Devteam, if you read us??
Thank you and as sons as you have balanced output for your DAC's i get it!!!

@ tetdeubix

Yes, we're indeed planning to build a buffer board. It's just been a bit busy in the past few weeks. Will try to put it back to the Todo list.

Hello,

I finally had some news about the dantimax converter. it seems to work!!! that's what told me the seller. So i order it, and my minisharc on the same time B)
So ASAP it works (or not…) i give you some news. I hope to have 6 (8 if you have better audio interface) balanced output with less latency as possible.Keep in touch!
Cheers!!!

Hi tetdeubix,

sounds really fascinating. I like it as I have RME Multiface here. This would give me the possibility to have 8 outs available. So: really curious if this will work. I`ll keep my fingers crossed. B)

Kind regards, humphrey

Hi. Quick attempt to revive this thread.

Anyone here currently working with balanced analog to miniSHARC via ADAT optical, and then back out, in real time? Would love to hear from those doing acoustic test & measurement + live sound.

Reason for asking: I have an old AudioFire Pre8 that I'm attached to (similar to OP's RME unit) and I'd like to try using it for front end + AD/DA conversion. I've considered building a box for miniSHARC, miniDAC8, unbal<>bal boards, etc. But the cost of front-end hardware is making me question that approach.

Thanks much!
