I imported some FIR filters from rephase but the resultant audio sounds a little like a dalek. I've obviously done something wrong some where. I've attached both the minisharc file and the rephase files with the measurement files they go with, if someone could take a look to confirm that i'm an idiot Id really appreciate it.

Ran out of time to add the files.......

Obviously anyone who takes a look will need to remove the .TXT from the file names for the .rephase and .bin files.

Thanks for looking

I'm going to give this a little bump, I know its not been long since I posted but I've got the scalford show a week on Sunday and was really hoping to be able to show the virtues of linear phase FIR filters and Demo to folk how it all works, maybe even secure a few more sales minidsp.

I wish I knew what a dalek sounded like. :)

I loaded both of your rePhase generated BIN files into my miniSHARC and they test fine.

A dalek sound like a heavily distorted minisharc :o

Thanks for looking by Dave. When you say they test fine. Do you mean they measure fine at the loudspeaker and sound fine or just that they load into the sharc ok? I've a feeling that somehow I'm not loading them correctly. Could you try loading my sharc XML into a config slot and comparing to your successful test of my .bin?

Cheers

Stefan

I'm not doing any acoustic testing or listening. (Way too many variables doing that.) :)

I loaded the FIR file and made a two-channel electrical measurement on my test bench using one of the other channels as a reference. I use SpectraPlus usually, but any of the decent measuring suites should be able to do the same test. ARTA, REW, Holmimpulse, etc, etc.

I'll give the XML file a try when I get a chance.

@Stefan,

We can have a quick look here by loading this into a miniSHARC + miniDIGI for example:
- What's your configuration here for firmware/plug-in? 48/96?
- Did you confirm that electrically (i.e. without a simple filter), you don't have any issue with a flat processing (no FIR/NO EQ) for input to output? Just want to confirm that we're not looking at something else in your wiring/setup of DAC .

@ Stefan,

Following this post, we ran some test and noticed that bypassing all unused FIR sections (ch5/6/7/8 I believe) should solve the problem.
Sounds like a MIPS issue that we'll shortly have a look at.

Let us know how things go

Hi Devteam,

Thanks for looking in, it's the 48khz plugin that i'm using.

I'll try the bypassing of the other FIR channels, although i'm pretty sure that i've done that as a matter of course anyhow.

FYI, the system works fine without FIR, I have another config setup with an IIR version of this filter with PEQ's setup which works a treat.

Regards

Stefan

@ Stefan,

Please have a look at the user downloads as we just released a firmware fixing this bug of MIPS resources on the DSP being overused when FIR banks aren't bypassed. Have a try and keep us updated.

Hello,

I post here because i've already the same problem with the latest firmware.
Only 4 channels are working with the FIR running.
The others channels (5,6,7 and 8) are bypassed.
